Witch Class Guide

INTRODUCTION

Remember that class guides are a rough explanation of the class, designed to give you an idea of the class and what you should be aiming for. You should really adapt the guide and follow your own instincts to match your play-style! This guide also uses items from the Media patch and some items will not be in-game at EU/NA launch.

The Witch class is the typical magic caster class with plenty of ranged AoE spells, slows, knock downs and stuns. Their main weapon is a staff and their secondary weapon is a dagger. This high damage dealing class can also be played as a support class due to them having heal skills, shields and can resurrect an ally. New players will find the Witch class fairly easy to play but requires you to manage your cool-downs and mana for expert level plays.

DIFFICULTY

PVP

PVE

SIEGE

Witches are very strong in group PvP and sieges but are relatively weak in 1v1 PvP unless you catch your opponent off-guard and are able to stun/knock down. This class can also be played on horseback really well due to the ability to cast all your main damage skills while riding the horse. PvE is very strong and easy due to the amount of AoE skills and long range.

Check out the video below to see some examples of character creation and combat.

If you have only just reached level 50 and are lacking in Skill Points, you can use this build (519 Skill Points) but refer to our level 54+ build and max the skills as soon as you can. Click here to view the build.

SKILL WIZARD-WITCH-DAMAGE

Alternatively, this build below is a Support/Healer build for players who are level 54 or higher. It uses a total of 646 Skill Points and includes some of the main damage skills. Click here to view the build.

If you have only just reached level 50 and are lacking in Skill Points, you can use this build (502 Skill Points) but refer to our level 54+ build and max the skills as soon as you can. Click here to view the build.

SKILL WIZARD-WITCH-SUPPORT

The names of skills in this build are taken from the EU/NA version and may differ from the skill calculator above.

  • Keys in square brackets [] mean that you tap the key. For example, [Q] means you tap Q once.
  • Keys in round brackets () mean that you hold the key. For example, (HOLD Q) means you hold Q until the next step. (PERMAHOLD Q) means you hold Q throughout the combo.
  • Keys separated by a “+” symbol should be used at the same time. For example, [Q] + [LMB] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time.
  • Keys separated by a “>” symbol show the order you should follow out the steps. For example, [Q] + [LMB] > [F] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time, then tap F
  • [LMB] refers to left-clicking with your mouse, [RMB] refers to right-clicking with your mouse.
GENERAL

Staff Attack
[LMB]

This skill is your main auto attack. Do not bother maxing it and only use this skill to recover mana.

Teleport
[SHIFT] + [SPACE]

This is one of your two dodges. The cast time is long and can be interrupted but the cool-down is quite short. This dodge skill uses 50 MP at all ranks.

Magical Evasion
[SHIFT] + [A] OR [S] OR [D]

This is your other dodge skill. You can also double-tap W to use this skill. It has shorter cast time with no cool-down but smaller range. This skill uses stamina instead of mana.

Sage’s Memory
Skill bar

This skill does not have a key-bind and will need to be placed on your hot-bar to use. The cool-down is 3 minutes and 30 seconds but once activated you will be able to insta-cast all your skills for 15 seconds.

Magic Pharos
Skill Bar

This skill will taunt and tank all nearby enemies for 20 seconds. It does not have a key-bind so you will need to place the skill on your hot-bar. The cool-down is 30 seconds at maximum rank but I wouldn’t bother maxing it straight away. We have only advised taking the first rank in all builds.

Spellbound Heart
Skill Bar

This skill will restore mana and can be really helpful. It does not have a key-bind so you will need to place the skill on your hot-bar. I would highly recommend taking this skill as soon as possible. If you are focusing on a support/healer build max this skill as soon as you are level 55. At max rank the skill will last around 6 minutes with a cool-down of 10 minutes.

Mind Training
Passive

This skill is your passive and will increase your casting speed. Max this skill as soon as possible.

CROUD CONTROL

Freezing
[SHIFT] + [LMB]

This skill will freeze a maximum of 3 targets at the highest rank with a 6 second cool-down. I have only recommended taking the first rank of this skill because it doesn’t have much damage and should be used as a pure crowd control skill. At first rank it will still stun 2 targets with a relatively low cool-down.

Frigid Fog
[S] + [Q]

This skill will CC all targets in a large area directly in-front of you. It does have decent damage which scales with your maximum mana, but you want to mostly use this skill to CC targets before using your main AoE damage skills.

Earth’s Response
[LMB] + [A] OR [D]

This skill will knock down 3 targets at the lowest rank. I have recommended maxing this skill because at the highest rank it will knock down up to 7 targets.

DAMAGE

Magical Arrow
[RMB]

This skill can be cast while moving. Moving while casting this skill will drain your stamina. It’s a great skill if you need to kite and also extends into two other skills called “Condensed” and “Multiple Magic”. Condensed (Left-Click + Right-Click) will fire a charged up version of this skill and Multiple Magic will also fire arrows. Multiple Magic does not have a key-bind and will need to be placed on your hotbar.

Fireball
[LMB] + [S] > [LMB]

Start casting this skill by using S and Left-Click then press Left-Click again to fire. This skill will knock down up to 7 targets at max rank and will also place a debuff on the targets which will deal damage over time. This skill extends into another skill called “Fire District” which will deal a lot more damage. To use Fire District, press S and Left-Click to begin casting, then press Left-Click then Right-Click to fire.

Lightning Chain
[SHIFT] + (HOLD RMB)

This skill is great for leveling but drops off a little at higher level when you compare it to your other skills. This skill will hit 3 targets at the first rank but can be quite annoying because it will target the closest objects including some scenery. This skill extends into the “Thunderstorm” skill which is used by pressing Shift and Right-Click, then Left-Click and Right-Click afterwards.

Thunderbolt
Skill Bar

This skill is an AoE stun which combos well with it’s extension skill “Residual Lightning”. To cast Residual Lightning, click S and F then Right-Click. This is probably one of the easier combos to use with high damage and a decent cool-down. Be careful while using this skill because it is your Black Spirit Rage skill. Using Lightning Strike when you have 100% Black Spirit Rage will cause you to stand still while casting for quite a long time and can be deadly in PvP or against bosses.

Meteor Shower
(HOLD S) + (HOLD LMB) + (HOLD RMB) > [LMB]

Start casting this skill by using S, Left-Click and Right-Click then press Left-Click again to fire. To unlock this skill you will complete a Black Spirit quest. The skill has a long cast time and a cool-down of 90 seconds but has high damage and bonus damage which scales with your maximum mana.

Earthquake
[SHIFT] + [F]

This skill has damage with bonus damage scaling with your maximum mana. Damage is applied while you are casting and at the higher ranks you will be able to cast for longer. The skill will also knock down targets with no limit on the amount of targets.

Blizzard
(HOLD SHIFT) + (HOLD LMB) + (HOLD RMB) > [LMB]

Start casting this skill by using Shift, Left-Click and Right-Click then press Left-Click again to fire. This skill extends from the Freezing skill so you will need the first rank of Freezing. This skill will drain your mana as you cast and will end when you move or run out of mana.

SUPPORT

Mana Absorption
[SHIFT] + [LMB]

This skill will drain mana from your target and regen your mana. This should be your main sustain.

Healing Aura
[E]

This skill restores a percentage of health along with mana/energy/rage. It is also cast-able on allies but is a single target spell. This skill has a cool-down of 10 seconds at maximum rank and does not cost mana to cast.

Healing Pharos
[SHIFT] + [E]

This skill will heal all nearby allies and has a cool-down of 30 seconds at maximum rank.

Revival
Skill Bar

This skill will resurrect a dead ally and you cast it by interacting with the dead target. It does not cost any Skill Points to take the first rank of this skill so you should take it whether or not you want to primarily focus on support/healing or not. At first rank this skill will restore the allies health back to 50% and at maximum rank will restore the allies heath to 100%.

Magical Shield
[Q]

This skill gives you a self shield which at maximum rank will convert 40% of incoming damage to mana. It will also give you resistance to stun and knock down for 30 seconds. The cool-down of this skill is 1 minute.

Protected Area
[SHIFT] + [Q]

This skill will shield all nearby allies and decrease all incoming damage. The skill does not last long and has a long cool-down but at higher rank the cool-down is decreased and slightly longer duration. Make sure you do not waste this skill!

Speed Spell
Skill Bar

This skill does not have a keybind so you will need to place it on your hotbar. This is a great support skill that will increase the attack speed, casting speed and movement speed of all nearby allies for 30 seconds. At maximum rank it will increase these stats by 20% and has a 15 second cool-down.

WEAPONS/ARMOR

The best weapons in the game are currently dropped from World Bosses.
For more information on this click here to view our World Bosses guide.

For your primary weapon, the Liverto is without a doubt the best weapon you can get that isn’t bound. You will want to upgrade it to +15 or higher as soon as possible. If you don’t have the budget for this weapon then the Yuria weapon is what you should be using in the mean time while you save up enough silver for Liverto.

For your off-hand, Steel Dagger is best for Witch.

The best armor in the game is currently dropped from Bosses.
Giath’s Helmet (helmet) – dropped from Giath.
Red Nose (chest) – dropped from the Red Nose and Contaminated Imp Captian.
Bheg’s Gloves (gloves) – dropped from Bheg.
Muskan’s Shoes (shoes) – dropped from Monastery Leader.
The full set will give you HP Recovery +100, Maximum MP/WP/SP +100, Maximum HP +100, Accuracy +1, Evasion +1, Attack Speed +1, Casting Speed +1
In the mean time you should be using one of the following two armor sets:

The most popular armor choice for Witch is the Grunil set. It increases your maximum HP and will give you 2 socket slots on each piece, along with extra AP if you have the full set. Another advantage of using this set is that it is viable on any class, allowing you to swap to another class easily.

Another alternative set, is the Taritas set. It’s really good for Witch but can be very heavy. I personally like to use the Taritas set with Grunil Gloves so that I can get the accuracy from the 3 piece armor bonus, and the extra maximum HP from the gloves. However, it is all down to your preference and play style.

ACCESSORIES

These are the best accessories in the game. They do cost a significant amount of silver.

Fugitive Khalk’s Earring x2

Maximum Stamina +50, Maximum MP/WP/SP +50

Ring of Crescent Guardian x2

Ogre Ring Necklace x1

Basilisk’s Belt x1

If you don’t have enough silver for the best accessories, these are a good temporary alternative.

Bares Earring x2

AP +4

Bares Ring x2

AP +2

Topaz Necklace of Regeneration x1

AP +5, knockdown resistance +30%

Bares Belt (OR any with AP) x1

SOCKETS (CRYSTALS)

These are an example of the best sockets for your class. They do cost a significant amount of silver.

Red Battlefield Crystal – Carmae x2
(weapon)

Critical Chance +1, Attack Speed +1, Damage against Humans +3

Red Spirit’s Crystal x2
(sub-weapon)

Maximum HP +100, AP +5, Damage against Humans +3

SKILL AWAKENING

Usually people will tell you to awaken skills that you use often. This skill builder will show you all the possible skill awakenings for each skill and can be useful. It is in Russian however, so you will need to translate it with Google.

I see at every class the same kind of accessoires, at least at those i play. I started myself with a sorceress, then also made a valkyrie, ranger, tamer and just recently a witch. But they all share here the banes accessoires. Now i know that this is more or less a rough example and you should built your own build. But what i actually miss are stats; what are the real strenght and weaknesses of each class and where do they rely the most on. For example: i would assume that a ranger would rely on accuracy, while a sorceress and a witch rely on casting speed and also make use of a big mana pole.

    Fixed! Sorry about the mistake.

I think the Pros & Cons section is wrong. It’s identical to the Ranger class guide page, and doesn’t really apply to the Witch.
