(Some parts of this guide, such as succession skill descriptions are skill under development and will be coming at a later date, you can easily find this information in-game)

Introduction

Remember that class guides are a rough explanation of the class, designed to give you an idea of the class and what you should be aiming for. You should really adapt the guide and follow your own instincts to match your play-style! I also highly recommend looking at as many different sources as possible and gathering as much information as you can about your class before deciding what is best for you and how you play. The class discords are a great place to start, most have their own guides and resources as well as plenty of skilled players willing to help with questions.

The Musa class uses a Blade as their primary weapon and Horn Bow as their secondary weapon. At level 56, Musa unlocks their awakening weapon which is a Crescent Blade. The class is the male counterpart of the Maehwa class, which almost has the same pre-awakening skill set and has a different awakening. The class is fast paced, with high burst and one-combo potential, but is a difficult class to master. They are more gear dependant than other classes for PVP, and need to get to the higher AP brackets to really shine, as well as being a very squishy class. They also have some stamina issues/management in PVP and you will need to make sure you don’t spam your dash too much. You can use your Q block in pre-awakening to allow it to regen safely.

DIFFICULTY

PVP

PVE

SIEGE

In low end PVE, they are considered one of the fastest clearing classes because of their high mobility and burst. They also do well in most end game spots, such as Mirumok, Aakman and Hystria, but will go through potions very quickly and may need high weight limit and maids to grind in certain places for a long time. In 1v1 situations, Musa is considered to be in an “ok state” and can also be good in large scale due to having a lot of protected damage and burst. Musa is best played as part of a flank/flex team in node wars because they need to be careful of their positioning and wait for the right moments to make the biggest impact in a fight. They are also good as a scout in node wars due to their high mobility and can easily clear stun traps or interrupt enemies that are repairing the fort.

Check out the video below to see some examples of character creation and combat.

PROS

  • Fast-paced combat
  • Strong is small scale PvP
  • High Mobility
  • Large AoE skills
  • Flexible class in large scale PVP with mulitiple possible roles

CONS

  • Low defense
  • No grab
  • More reliant on gearscore than other classes
  • Uses lots of potions
  • Some stamina issues/management

PvP Class Matchups

Musa is a dash class that can pick their fights and when to engage. Higher skilled players will learn when enemies have openings in their skills and learn to react to their opponents to make use of this in a fight. That being said, Musa struggles against grab classes since they rely on their super armor dash a lot in PVP and a grab will go through this and usually result in their death. Movement speed and attack speed debuffs are also very effective against Musas because their mobility is a very important part of the class.

Below are some classes that Musa particularly struggles with:
  • Warrior – Warriors will usually stay in their block and can be hard to deal with. They can then use their Solar Flair and grab when they notice a good opportunity to enage.
  • Valkyrie – Valkyries can also use block and then walk towards you and try to grab you. The also have their “suck/vacuum” skill (Wave of Light) which they will try to catch you in. When fighting against a Valkyrie you should try to go in and out of the fight and not trade damage, just chip away at their block. Look to CC them at the end of their skills because they don’t have lingering protection and can easily be caught out if you know when to attack. You can also make use of your block and then Retaliation/Counter Assassination, which will knockdown your target if successful. If a Valkyrie uses their suck skill, you can try to spam your dash to avoid getting CC’d.
  • Lahn – Lahn has a lot of protected mobility and also a long ranged grab which makes the class hard to deal with.

Succession

Musa Succession can be unlocked after level 56 after speaking to the Black Spirit and completing the Succession quest under the suggestions tab. This will give you a totally seperate skill tree that enhances your main hand skills and only has a few awakening skills. Your awakening weapon still effects your succession damage but is not as much of a priority. You can get away with using a Green/Blue grade TRI Ultimate weapon without losing too much damage. This is because only 30% of your Awakening AP is applied to the damage of Succession skills, as well as the additional item stats, such as Human/Species Damage and Accuracy.

Succession is considered better in 1v1 scenarios against a few matchups, especially players with heavy DP builds. The skills lack some CC but deal more damage overall. In large scale PVP, Musa succession offers better damage and more protection on their skills, but may have issues with stamina management. Like most other classes, low end PVE awakening will perform better but succession takes the lead in end game spots.

In each section of the guide you can find additional information about succession skills.

Skills

If you’ve just reached level 50 or you’re still leveling, use this build to put you in the right direction of what skills you should be using.
Make sure you reset your skills at level 56 though because you will need skill points for your awakening skills and will only really need the support skills from pre-awakening.

  • Keys in square brackets [] mean that you tap the key. For example, [Q] means you tap Q once.
  • Keys in round brackets () mean that you hold the key. For example, (HOLD Q) means you hold Q until the next step. (PERMAHOLD Q) means you hold Q throughout the combo.
  • Keys separated by a “+” symbol should be used at the same time. For example, [Q] + [LMB] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time.
  • Keys separated by a “>” symbol show the order you should follow out the steps. For example, [Q] + [LMB] > [F] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time, then tap F
  • [LMB] refers to left-clicking with your mouse, [RMB] refers to right-clicking with your mouse.
  • Blue skill names are awakening skills (level 56+).
    GENERAL

    Slice
    [LMB]

This is your auto attack and is automatically taken when you level up. It will regenerate energy with each hit but doesn’t deal much damage. There is also an extension to this skill called “Deep Slice” which will add a bleed effect on hit but is not worth taking.

    Retaliation Stance
    [Q]

This skill will block incoming attacks when you press [Q] with a Forward Guard. You can also counter attack if you successfully block an attack and this has a chance of knockdown.

    Musa Spirit
    [SHIFT] + [E]

This skill will restore WP. It is great for sustain and the absolute will reduce the cooldown and restore 200 WP.

    Backstep Slash (Optional)
    [S] + [SPACE]

Backstep Slash will inflict stiffness on up to 5 targets if successfull and slow their movement speed by -30% for 10 seconds. It’s important to note that this skill can be used whilst on cooldown but will not inflict a CC. Beginner Musa players will want to lock this skill and not bother maxing it or using it until they already have their core build.

    Force of the Sword
    Passive

Force of the Sword is a passive that is automatically taken at level 1, giving you a permanent +5% critical hit rate buff.

    Sword Training
    Passive

This is your passive. It will increase your melee attack by +1 for each rank and only costs 3 skill points so I would recommend putting points into this when you can.

    Maneuver Training
    Passive

This is your passive. It will increase your melee evasion rate by +1% and only costs 3 skill points so I would recommend putting points into this when you can.

    Precise Martial Arts
    Passive

This is also a passive/buff which will give you a permanent knockback/stiffness +15% ignore

    Awakening: Haeam’s Crescent Blade

    [C]

This skill allows you to swap between your main hand and awakening weapon. The skill gives you forward guard during the animation.

    Musa’s Soul

    [E]

This skill gives you anl awakening buff when used and is known as your “E buff”. You will get All Resistance +50% and All AP +20 for 30 seconds. It also allows you to use Crosscut without consuming WP. The skill has a 3 minute cooldown and has super armor when using the skill.

    Crescent Blade Training
    [LMB]

This skill is your awakening auto attack. This skill is automatically leveled up and gives you WP back per hit as well as a knockback when used with [W] + [LMB].

    KICKS/MOBILITY

    Upper Kick
    [F]

This kick will knock enemies into air with floating and also regenerates some WP. The skill is taken automatically at level 1 but is generally useless and I recommend just locking it.

    Blunt Kick
    [SHIFT] + [F]

This kick inflicts stiffness and also regenerates some WP but the skill has minimal damage and isn’t useful for PVP or PVE. I wouldn’t recommend taking this skill.

    Sweep Kick
    [S] + [F]

This kick inflicts bound and also regenerates some WP but the skill has minimal damage and isn’t useful for PVP or PVE. I wouldn’t recommend taking this skill.

    Roundhouse Kick
    [F]

This kick will knockback enemies and also regenerates some WP. The skill can be “ok” for extra CC but I only recommend taking it if you already have your core skill build and have spare points.

    Evasion
    [SHIFT] + [A] OR [S] OR [D]

This is one of your dodge skills. It will consume stamina and roll you in a chosen direction. The skill is unprotected and often conflicts with other skills so it is highly recommended to just lock it.

    Chase
    [RMB] + [W] OR [S]

This is your mobility skill and is a very important skill in the Musa skill kit. You should max it as early as possible. The skill has an iframe off cooldown and will give super armor if you use it on cooldown. It will drain your WP and stamina if you use it too much and leave you vulnerable. The skill has collision when moving fowards but no collision when using it backwards.

    DAMAGE

    Stub Arrow
    [SHIFT] + [RMB]

This is your basic attack for your horn bow and all other horn bow skills extend from this one. It does have a cooldown once used but can be ignored to deal less damage. It will restore WP for each hit and at higher rank it will shoot multiple arrows. This skill is great for pulling mobs when you are leveling your character for the first time and is later used to inflict knockback CC in PVP using the Charged Stub Arrow extention.

    Arrow Grapple
    [SPACE] after firing Stub Arrow

After sucessfully hitting an arrow on your enemy, press SPACE to pull yourself to the target. When you have Arrow Grapple III you can press SPACE again, whilst traveling to your enemy, to cancel the grapple. You can also hold [LMB] to perform a kick after the skill. The skill has no protection so you should be careful when using it. If you already have your core build, you can put extra points into this skill to increase its damage.

    Charged Stub Arrow
    (HOLD SHIFT) + (HOLD RMB)

You can hold your horn bow auto attack (Shift + Right-Click) to fire a charged arrow. If you ahve Charged Stub Arrow: Evasion, you can also dash to the side while charging the arrow by pressing A or D and this is an iframe. The charged arrow will knockdown enemies and is great for PvP. If you already have your core build, you can put extra points into this skill to increase its damage.

    Stub Arrow: Evasive Shot
    Quick Slot Only

This skill allows you to dash/dodge (Right-Click + W/A/S/D) while firing an arrow. The skill is not worth leveling up.

    Tiger Blade
    Quick Slot

This skill needs to be added to your quick slot/hotbar. The skill has a 2 minute 30 second cooldown but will summon an extra sword and give you extra attack speed, movement speed and defense for 30 seconds as well as increasing your CC resistances. The extra sword can only be used with certain skills. These are: Slice, Dragon Bite, Dragon Claw, Ultimate: Dragon Claw, Carver, Whirlwind Cut, Divider. All skills will give lifesteal and Tiger Blade dashes will make you invincible.

    Divider
    [E]

This skill will swing at the enemy giving you 2% HP Recovery, based on your maximum WP, for each target you hit. The skill can be useful in low end PVE to quickly regen some HP, but I wouldn’t recommend maxing it.

    Whirlwind Cut
    [LMB] + [A] OR [D]

This skill will swing three times at the enemy, applying a Melee DP debuff if you have Whirlwind Cut: Grinder. The skill isn’t worth taking unless you already have your core skill build and have spare points.

    Blooming
    [SHIFT] + [LMB] + [RMB]

Blooming can be charged by holding [SHIFT], [LMB] and [RMB] at the same time. You are invincible at the beginning of the skill and can also instantly cast the skill if you use it during Carver, Chase or Blind Thrust (forwards). However, it’s important to note that instantly casting will deal -50% damage than a full charge. Blooming has 100% critical chance and can stun up to 7 targets. Blooming: Phantom and Absolute: Blooming will also inflict a bleeding and drain the targets MP on good hits.

    Blind Thrust
    [SPACE] during certain situations

This skill uses stamina and will restore your WP. It will also apply a melee accuracy rate reduction debuff to your enemy and increase your critical hit rate at the same time.

    Nemisis Slash
    [SPACE] after Blind Thrust

This skill can be used after Blind Thrust to inflict stiffness CC. The ultimate and absolute of this skill will also heal you for HP Recovery on hit and will instead inflict a floating CC.

    Blind Slash
    [S] + [E]

This skill can be used to counter attack and will inflict a floating CC on the last hit.

    Carver
(HOLD W) + (HOLD SHIFT) + (HOLD LMB)

This skill can be used by holding [SHIFT] and [LMB] either during Slice, or whilst sprinting. The skill will inflicting floating CC on good hits and also regenerates WP. The skill is not worth taking though because of it’s too awkward to use and deals mediocre damage.

    Gale
    (HOLD LMB) + (HOLD RMB)

Gale strikes 3 times, inflicting a knockback (PVE only) and floating effect on targets. On the 3rd strike it will also spin targets so that their back is facing you (PVE only). Ultimate: Gale will heavily increase the damage of the skill by 10% of your max WP as extra damage.

    Dragon Bite
    [LMB] + [S]

This skill has forward guard and will knock back enemies (PVE only) as well as stun them if it isn’t used with Tiger Blade. This skill is also your 100% Black Spirit Rage skill which adds a DP buff and makes the skill an iframe at the beginning with super armor on the attack. Whilst channelling you can turn your camera to change direction of the skill.

    Dragon Claw
    [LMB] during Dragon Bite

Dragon Claw can be used by pressing [LMB] during Dragon Bite or during the Tiger Blade version of the skill. It has 100% critical chance and is useful for comboing into other skills.

    Lunar Slash
    [LMB] after Dragon Claw

Lunar Slash can be used by pressing [LMB] after Dragon Claw. It deals high damage and also inflicts floating on a sucessful hit. Lunar Slash will also deal 15% of your maximum WP as bonus damage.

    Rising Storm
    [SHIFT] + [Q]

This skill can also be used with (S + Left-Click + Right-Click). I would recommend using Shift and Q though because the other combo is easier to mix with others. The skill has a wide range and will spin targets as well as floating them. It also gives a DP buff to you and is your 200% Black Spirit Rage skill. When used with 200% Black Spirit Rage, it will cast Rising Storm in a larger radius and deal high damage as well as having super armor on the skill.

    Cyclone Slash
(HOLD LMB) + (HOLD RMB) after Rising Storm

Cyclone Slash can be used either after Rising Storm or Whirlwind Cut: Cyclone. The skill will send a tornado out in front of you, knocking back targets on hit and inflicting floating. The skill can hit a maximum of 10 targets when you have the Absolute Skill but I only recommend leveling it up if you already have your core skill build.

    Rising Storm: Blaze
    (HOLD LMB) after Rising Storm

Rising Storm Blaze will allow you to cast Rising Storm again straight afterwards and also has floating CC. I only recommend leveling it up if you already have your core skill build.

    Counter Assassination
    [Q]

This skill is your awakening version of Retaliation and will block incoming attacks with a forward guard. You can then use [LMB] to counter attack which will stun if successful.

    Fiery Angel
    [W] + [F]

This skill will make you dash to your enemy. It has decent damage and a floating CC.

    Spinner
    [S] + [LMB]

This skill has an Attack Speed +10% buff and will also inflict floating if successful.

    Crosscut
    [LMB] + [A] OR [D]

This skill slashes sideways and gives a critical hit rate buff as well as having super armor.

    Crust Crusher
    [SHIFT] + [F]

This skill has front guard at the start of the skill animation. It also has a knockdown CC and will debuff your enemy with Movement Speed -15% on good hits. The skill is also your 200% Black Spirit Rage skill. When used with 200% Black Spirit Rage, it has super armor instead and higher damage.

    Fiery Crevice
    [F]

This skill can be used on your hotbar from preawakening to switch to awakening instantly and use the skill. The skill gives HP Recovery on hit and also a Casting and Attack Speed debuff of -15% for your target. It has high damage and will also CC with bound on good hits.

    Projection
    [SHIFT] + [RMB]

This skill can be used on your hotbar from preawakening to switch to awakening instantly and use the skill. Projection has a Summon Accuracy Rate +100% and will inflicting floating as well as pushing back the target on good summon hits. The skill is also your 100% Black Spirit Rage skill which adds extra damage to the skill.

    Below the Belt
    [SHIFT] + [LMB]

This skill has high damage and super armor as well as recovering WP. The bound and knock back CC only applies in PVE however.

    Flow: Dash Slash
    (HOLD LMB) after Spinner

This skill is used after Spinner to deal extra damage and will also debuff with -15 DP for 10 sec.

    Twister
    [SPACE] in certain situations

Twister can be used after certain skills to combo. It recovers WP and also inflicts stiffness CC on good hits.

    Musa’s Resolve
    [SHIFT] + [Q]

This skill is an instant cast with a very short animation. It will stun targets on good hits (up to 10 targets) but the damage is in PVE only and quite low.

    One Step Back
    [S] + [F]

This skill can be used on your hotbar from preawakening to switch to awakening instantly and use the skill. It will recover WP and also inflict stiffness on good hits.

    Flow: Backflow
[RMB] + [A] OR [D] while using Crosscut

This skill adds extra damge to Crosscut which is reduced in PVP. It has super armor and a stiffness CC but the CC is only for PVE.

    Flow: Nemesis Slash (Optional)
[SPACE] after Crust Crusher, Fiery Crevice or Twister

This skill can be to use Nemesis Slash with your awakening weapon. It’s not really that useful and I would only recommend taking it once you have your core skill build if you have extra points.

    Flow: Foul Play
    [F] after Crust Crusher

Flow: Foul Play can be used after Crust Crusher by press [F]. The skill has high damage and a forward guard, as well as HP Recovery +50 on every good hit and a knockback CC (PVE only).

    Flow: Extra Credit (Optional)
    (HOLD RMB) after Projection

This skill just adds extra damage after using Projection. It has no protection or CC and I wouldn’t bother getting it unless you have spare skill points after completing your core skill build.

    Skill Combos

The following skill combos are basic combos/cancels and some additional tips/tricks for your class. I recommend using video guides to learn more complex skill combos, because it is much easier to see exactly what you should be doing, rather than reading it and trying to wrap your head around it all. There are some recommended skill combo videos in the Useful Links section and the end of the guide!

    • [LMB] refers to left-clicking with your mouse, [RMB] refers to right-clicking with your mouse.

    iconiconiconiconiconiconiconicon
Required skills: Charged Stub Arrow, Blind Thrust, Slice, Gale, Crescent Blade Training, Dash Slash, Below the Belt, Fiery Crevice

    [SHIFT] + [RMB] + [A] > [W] + [LMB] + [SPACE] > [LMB] (x2) > [LMB] + [RMB] > [C] > (Quickslot: Dash Slash) > [SHIFT] + [LMB] > [F]

This is an example of a PVP pre-awakening combo. You can use Dragon Bite at the beginning instead of Charged Stub Arrow.

    iconiconiconiconiconiconicon
Required skills: Fiery Angel, Below the Belt, Crosscut, Counter Assassination, Projection, Crust Crusher, Flow: Foul Play

    [W] + [F] > [SHIFT] + [LMB] > [A] + [LMB] > [Q] > [SHIFT] + [RMB] > [SHIFT] + [F] > [F]

This is an example of a PVP awakening combo.

    iconiconiconiconiconiconiconicon
Required skills: Musa’s Spirit, Crosscut, Flow: Backflow, Twister, Projection, Below the Belt, Fiery Crevice, Dash Slash

    (Quickslot: Musa’s Spirit) > [A] + [LMB] > [A] + [RMB] > [SPACE] > [SHIFT] + [RMB] > [SHIFT] + [LMB] > [F] > (Quickslot: Dash Slash)

This is an example of a PVP awakening combo.

    iconiconiconiconiconiconiconiconiconicon
Required skills: Fiery Angel, Crosscut, Flow: Backflow, Blind Thrust, Slice, Gale, Crescent Blade Training, Flow: Dash Slash, Below the Belt, Fiery Crevice

    [W] + [F] > [A] + [LMB] > [A] + [RMB] > [C] > [W] + [SPACE] > [LMB] (2x) > [LMB] + [RMB] > [C] > (Quickslot: Dash Slash) > [SHIFT] + [LMB] > [F]

This combo is a longer combo you can use if you lack the damage for the other ones. The blade swap can be cancelled using Blind Thrust immediately. You must do 2 auto attacks after Blind Thurst to get the full animation of Gale as well.

    Locked Skills

These are the skills I recommend locking to help prevent messing up combos during PVP:
    Evasion, Backstep Slash, Upper Kick

To lock a skill, press the lock icon on the top of each skill icon in the skill window (K).

    Absolute Skills

Most of the absolute skills only give damage increases and since a lot of Musa pre-awakening has unprocted skills, the absolute skills are not considered to be that impactful/useful. You will mostly use these in PVE or in some PVP situations/combos for extra damage/finishers. I would advise only getting your absolute skills if you have spare skill points after you have completed your core build already. I definately wouldn’t worry about them until you have all your awakening skills maxed first.

Below are the priority Absolute Skills you should take:

Absolute: Rising Storm – Requires level 60 (40 Skill Points)
Absolute: Musa Spirit – Requires level 56 (25 Skill Points)
Absolute: Dragon Bite – Requires level 58 (25 Skill Points)
    Absolute: Blooming
Requires level 56 (23 Skill Points)
Absolute: Gale – Requires level 57 (30 Skill Points)

    Rabam Skills

    Level 56 – [SHIFT] + [X]
Ultimate: Musa Spirit – Requires [Musa Spirit III] and [Blind Thrust III] (Preferred Choice)
Steel Gale – Requires [Musa Spirit III] and [Rising Storm III]

Ultimate: Musa Spirit has a good heal on the skill (HP Recover +450) and also a Magic DP +15 and Critical Hit Rate +20% buff for 10 sec.

    Level 57 – [SHIFT] + [Z]
Pouncing Dragon – Requires [Rising Storm III] and [Dragon Bite III]
Quick Slot Requires [Rising Storm III] and [Stub Arrow II] (Preferred Choice)

    Quick Slot
Rabam skill should be used from your hot bar. It gives an instant switch to pre-awakening and has a movement speed -10% debuff as well as stiffness CC. The skill also deals a lot of damage and is ranged, while Pouncing Dragon is a melee skill.

    Skill Add-ons

Below are some examples of viable skill add-ons you can take. I recommend experimenting with your add-ons and figuring out what is best for you, because it really depends on your personal preference and how you play your class. Weapons/Armor

The best weapons in the game are currently dropped from World Bosses.
For more information on this click here to view our World Bosses guide.

    Primary Weapons:

    iconRosar Blade
The Rosar Blade is what you should be aiming for to level your character. You should enhance it to at least +7 for leveling and then PRI or higher as soon as possible if you don’t have Liverto/Kzarka. Aim to buy a +15 Rosar Blade if you can to save your enhancing resources. Ideally you will want to buy or make it ultimate (yellow) to close the AP difference as well. Make sure you also make use of the gem slots to get your Casting Speed and Critical Hit up to 5.

Another alternative is the Styd Blade for leveling if you are having trouble obtaining a Rosar Blade. This weapon can be bought from a Blacksmith and will give you 18 – 22 AP as well as a lot of accuracy.

    iconLiverto Blade
Liverto is the fourth strongest mainhand and much easier to obtain and enhance than Kzarka. I personally would not invest in a Liverto because it will just slow your progression. Go to a kzarka as early as possible. If you do already have liverto and have already invested into it, you will want to upgrade it to PRI or higher as soon as possible. I would recommend getting it to TRI at most and then you really want to switch to Kzarka. The liverto has slightly more AP than Rosar, but it also has a Critical Hit Rate +3 item effect.

    iconKzarka Blade
Kzarka is the main weapon you will be using. It has the same AP as Liverto but more accuracy and an Attack Speed +3 item effect.

    iconOffin Tett’s Radiant Blade
Offin Tett weapons are usually not worth investing in because of the loss in accuracy. It can help you push to the next AP bracket but at higher AP brackets the extra AP you get is smaller and you’ll be losing hit chance % at the same time on both your preawakening and your awakening. So really you’re actually losing damage overall since you won’t be hitting the enemy as much (unless they are full DR). Offin Tett can be good when you reach certain AP brackets and if your class doesn’t depend on accuracy as much as others, but if you’re unsure whether you should be using this weapon or not, it’s much safer to just use Kzarka.

    iconBlackstar Blade

Blackstar is considered the current best in slot mainhand weapon with higher base AP than Kzarka. It must be crafted using items in Star’s End and then following a questline. The weapon is also harder to enhance so most players only switch to Blackstar once they already have TET Kzaraka and very high AP with no easier upgrades. It has a Damage to All Species +10 and Attack Speed +3 item effect, as well as other bonuses when enhanced. The weapon cannot be enhanced with Caphras stones though. Blackstar is considered best for PVE at endgame but eventually a PEN Kzarka will outscale.

    Offhand Weapons:

    icon Black Warrior Horn Bow
The Black Horn Bow is currently considered the best offhand to go with if you are a beginner, especially if you don’t have Bheg’s gloves or Liverto/Kzarka, because of its mixture of AP and accuracy. You should enhance it to at least +7 for leveling and then PRI or higher as soon as possible. Aim to buy a +15 if you can to save your enhancing resources. Ideally you will want to buy or make it ultimate (yellow) as well. If you already have some gear from another character, and have high enough accuracy, you can use the White Horn Bow instead, which gives higher AP.

    iconKutum Horn Bow
This bow gives a mixture of AP and DP with added monster damage and accuracy. The Kutum weapons also have a 10% ignore resistance. The higher AP makes this weapon a best in slot for PVE. It also has 2 crystal slots. The Kutum can also be modified using an Inverted Hearth of Garmoth to give extra stats (Max HP +150, Max Stamina +100, Special Attack Evasion Rate +10%). You should aim to switch from Black Warrior Horn Bow to Kutum once you reach around 230 accuracy without your offhand.

When you are 261 (using Nouver) it is actually better to use Nouver in PVE as well because of the bonus AP given in the AP brackets. Once you reach over 261 AP (with Kutum) it is better to switch back to Kutum for PVE. More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here

    iconNouver Horn Bow
Nouver is currently considered the best in slot choice once you are at softcap gear with a good amount of AP and accuracy already. You should aim to have TRI gear before switching to this offhand and try to get between 300-330 accuracy without Black Warrior Horn Bow before switching. When you are 261 (using Nouver) it is actually better to use Nouver in PVE as well because of the bonus AP given in the AP brackets. Once you reach over 261 AP (with Kutum) it is better to switch back to Kutum for PVE. More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here

The weapon gives pure AP and an all resistance +10% item effect and can be modified using an Inverted Hearth of Garmoth to give extra stats (Max HP +150, Max Stamina +100, Special Attack Evasion Rate +10%).

    Awakening Weapons:

    icon Iron Crescent Blade
This is a green grade weapon which is sold by some Blacksmith/Arms dealers. You will also receive a +10 Iron Crescent Blade when you complete your awakening quests. This weapon has lower AP than the other options but it is still viable for PvE due to it’s Damage Against Every Species +5 item effect. It’s also much cheaper to enhance and repair max durability than the other options so if you don’t have a lot of money or participate in a lot of PvP, then this weapon is a good alternative until you get Dandelion.

    icon Immaculate Crescent Blade
The Immaculate Crescent Blade is a blue grade weapon which is given to you when you complete the awakening quests. The only ways to obtain this weapon is through the quest or night vendor. This makes is hard to obtain and it can be more expensive to repair. The Immaculate Crescent Blade is good for PvP and has higher AP than the Iron Crescent Blade. It also has a Damage Against Human +7 item effect which is good for PVP.

    icon Dragon Slayer Crescent Blade
Dragon Slayer weapons are very comparable to the Dandelion weapons with their stats. They have slightly less AP but are much cheaper to repair and much less hassle. However, the Dragon Slayer weapons cannot be placed on the marketplace and must be crafted by the player themselves.

    iconDandelion Crescent Blade
Dandelion weapons are the BiS awakening weapons. It has much higher AP but it is only obtainable from a Dandelion Weapon Box (Karanda world boss loot) or from the night vendor.

    Armor:

The best armor in the game is currently dropped from Bosses. You will want to aim to get the boots and gloves first.

icon Griffon’s Helmet (helmet) – dropped from Griffons in Kamaslyvia.
iconDim Tree Spirit’s Armor (chest) – dropped from Dim Tree Spirit.
icon Bheg’s Gloves (gloves) dropped from Bheg.
icon Urugon’s Shoes (shoes) – dropped from Urugon (Gaifinrasia Raid Captain Scroll).

icon Giath’s Helmet (helmet) alternative choice – dropped from Giath.
icon Muskan’s Shoes (shoes) alternative choice– dropped from Monastery Leader.

The best in slot armor is Griffon’s Helmet, Dim Tree Spirit’s Armor, Bheg’s Gloves and Urugon’s Shoes.

The full set will give you Maximum MP/WP/SP +100, Maximum HP +200, Max Stamina +200, Attack Speed +1, Casting Speed +1, Movement Speed +1 and All Resistances 5%. You will also get higher Accuracy, Evasion and Damage Reduction from these pieces.

In the mean time you should be using one of the following armor sets:

A popular armor choice is to go full Grunil set because it increases your maximum HP and will give you 2 socket slots on each piece, along with extra AP +7 set bonus. Another advantage of using this set is that it is viable on any class, allowing you to swap to another class easily.

Full Heve set is also a very popular choice and what I recommend for new players because it has an easier transition to boss gear whilst. As soon as you get one boss item with Grunil, you lose the set bonuses which Grunil weaker.

Another alternative is to use is the Akum set. It has comparable stats to boss armor and also a very useful set effect that gives Damage Reduction and Hidden AP. If you are unable to get boss armor, then the Akum set is a good cheap alternative that will be good for both PVP and PV. Investing in this set may slow you down in your progression towards softcap, but is much cheaper once you factor in repairing and enhancing.

    Accessories

There are a lot of choices available when it comes to accessories and it really depends on what you can get your hands on.

    Earrings:

If available I recommend using the Asula’s Crimon Eye Earrings (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 7 AP and also has very good set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares earrings for 2 AP and switch to Witch’s Earring as soon as possible for the 5 AP.

You want to aim for DUO/TRI Witch’s Earrings (9 AP/11 AP) before swapping to a DUO Tungrad Earrings (11 AP) because of the huge difference in cost. Tungrad Earrings are one of the best earrings you can get. The other alternative is Black Distortion Earrings which give the highest amount of AP (21 AP at PEN), but reduce your DP as well.

The Capotia Earring is also worth mentioning. It is available at level 62+ only but is a very good earring because of it’s high AP. It makes a perfect backup for enhancing and is essentially a free TRI Tungrad Earring.

    Rings:

Sahazad’s Ring of Monarch is also available through the Valencia part I and II quests. It can’t be enhanced but it is a good alternative until you can get Ring of Crescent Guardian or Mark of Shadow to PRI/DUO.

The current best in slot, is a Tungrad Ring.

The Capotia Ring is also worth mentioning. It is available at level 61+ only but is a very good ring because of it’s high AP. It makes a perfect backup for enhancing and is essentially a free TRI Ring of Crescent Guardian.

    Necklace:

If available I recommend using the Asula’s Crimon Eye Necklace (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 11 AP and 3 DP as well as damage reduction and an amazing set bonus. Otherwise use Bares Necklace for 4 AP and enhance this to DUO/TRI for 8 AP/10 AP. Enhancing a Bares Necklace is much cheaper than using an un-enhanced BiS necklace. You then want to swap to a DUO Serap’s or PRI Ogre/Tungrad.

The Manos Necklaces are also an alternative for PvP, if you don’t have a DUO Seraps already, due to their item effects. I personally wouldn’t bother with them though because you will want as much AP as possible.

You want to aim for a PRI/DUO Tree Spirit Belt before swapping to DUO Basilisk’s because it is much cheaper and easier to get hold of. Basilisk’s Belt and Valtarra are very good belts but Tungrade is currently the best in slot.

    Example Gear Builds

I highly recommend using BDOPLANNER.COM to help you plan your build and track your progression.

The build you choose completely depends on your playstyle and what role you want to play in PVP. Below are some example builds to help you decide what is best for you.

    Leveling build: link
Here is what to aim for when leveling and before you get your boss gear. You should focus on enhancing your weapons first and then your armor. Try to also ultimate all your pieces as soon as possible, especially your armor because it will give quite a big DP boost.

    Low-Tier build: link
Here is a low-tier build to use if you are looking to improve your gear before you get boss gear. You may want to use Red Coral Earrings or Witch’s Earrings instead of Asula Earrings but they can be quite expensive compared to the rest of the gear.

    Mid-Tier build: link
Here is a mid-tier build to use once you have boss gear. You want to aim to get TRI as soon as possible and then work on your accessories. If possible use a TRI Red Coral Earring and you can then swap your Bronze Dagger for Nouver in most cases as long as you have a minimum of 320 accuracy when using Nouver. You can also use a TET heve and TRI Muskan’s shoes instead but Griffon’s and Urugon’s shoes are currently considered best in slot in the gear meta.

    Softcap build: link
Here is what to aim for if you are going for. It takes a long time to get to this stage, and there are lots of small improvements and other accessories you will use along the way, but this is ideally your softcap build for PVP.

For PVE, you want to be using a Kutum with Corrupted Magic Crystals. Once you reach 261 AP with Nouver, you will want to stop using Kutum for PVE however, until you reach 265 AP with Kutum. After many tests, it is confirmed that Nouver performs better than Kutum in these brackets. More information about AP and DP brackers can be found here

You may also want to consider starting to put Caphras stones into your gear for bonus stats to help you get to the next AP bracket. Begin by getting level 4 in your main hand for the extra 4 AP. Then you will want to move on to putting level 2 into each armor piece before getting them all up to level 4 as well.

    End-game build: link
Here is what to eventually aim for. It takes a long time to get to this stage, and there are lots of small improvements and other accessories you will use along the way, but this is ideally your end game build for PVP. Make sure to put Caphras stones into your equipment for extra stats. You can also swap out both of the Black Magic Crystal – Precision for Crystal of Elkarr (best in slot) instead but these are very costly and harder to obtain.

For PVP, it really depends. If you are only doing tier 1 node wars for example, then it is better to stick with Kutum because the node is AP capped anyway and the extra DP can push you to a higher DP bracket.

    Consumables

When grinding, use EXP Elixirs and Milk Tea, then other food of your choice such as Margoria Seafood and Serendia Special. It really depends on your preference and your crystals/stats.

For your food rotation in node wars/siege, I would recommend using Knight Combat Rations, Valencia Special, Kamaslyvia Meal and King of Jungle Hamburger and in that order. You will need to also use Elixir of Shock so that you have 5 crit. If you can’t do this then you will need to use Margoria Seafood instead of Kamaslyvia Meal. You may also want to use the Special Valencia Meal and Special Kamaslyvia Meal so that it lasts 120 minutes.

    The recipes for these are:

        Hi @Oldum 🙂

This guide should be updated next/soon ™. If you need help with accessories in particular, I would advise looking at the Ranger Guide for now because the accessories you use should be quite similar and it may give you some guidance. Alternatively, you can send a BDOPlanner link to me and I’ll take a look at your gear for you 🙂

Pls, update this guide. Doesn’t even have awakening skill tree………

I know there is a meta in this game, but if you made a guide, just keep on with it.

Grunil Helmet, Taritas Chest, Grunil Gloves and Taritas Shoes and also Black Horn Bow/ Yuria should I make them all +15?

    • May 9, 2016 @ 16:59 pm

I think it’s better to have 2x (+2 Att Spd Crystals) on grunil gloves and 1x (+1Crit +1 Att spd) and 1x (+1 crit) on Liverto weapon which gives +3 crit already
so it’s +5 Att Spd and +5 crit
2x weapon crytal carmae is just waste of money and stats becasue it will be overextended to +5 crit cap

      I actually have:

      -Ogre ring (AP +10)
      -2 x Mark of shadow (AP +5)
      -2 x Witch’s earring (AP +5)
      -Kalis Belt DUO (Accuracy +4)

-Weapon: Liverto Blade +15 (Do you know how good is the Accuracy compared to a Yuria one ?)
Off hand, i plan to have both: Black Horn Bow (for PvP) & White Horn Bow (for PvE), I actually have the White horn +7

-Ultimate Steel Taritas armor +5 (not yet upgraded) & Grunil armor +15 (WP/MP/SP +25 x2)
      -Ultimate Gunil Helmet +13 (HP +50 x2)
      -Grunil Shoes +14 (Stamina +100 x2)
-Ultimate grunil gloves (Attack speed +2 & Attack speed +1) For those gems is there any better gems to replace the Attack speed +1 (attack speed +2 is useless in my case because with my actuall stuff I have 5 in ATK speed & Critical).

      Actually it gives me:
      123 AP (+5/7 with grunil) & 151 AP

      =======

Is there any place to farm: Magic Crystal of Infinity – Intimidation ?
I actually have 2 Harphia for my Helmet (HP +50)x2

What about 3 Taritas & 1 Grunil ? (it gives extra accuracy)

I plan to switch for my Marks of Shadows for Outlaw’s ring (Ap+3, DP+4 & Stamina +50) , do you think it’s worth to get it ?
For my belt, I don’t really know what to get.

BTW, thanks for the guide 🙂
