Dark Knight Class Guide

Last updated: 15th April 2018

INTRODUCTION

Remember that class guides are a rough explanation of the class, designed to give you an idea of the class and what you should be aiming for. You should really adapt the guide and follow your own instincts to match your play-style! I would also like to give a massive thank you to a Dark Knight in my guild for helping me write this guide.

The Dark Knight class uses a two-handed Kriegsmesser as their primary weapon and a Ornamental Knot as their secondary weapon (same offhand as Berserker). At level 56, the Dark Knight unlocks their awakening weapon which is a Vediant and allows her to use two swords with magic. The Dark Knight class uses melee range to slash at their enemies as well as dark magical mid-ranged spells. She is often compared to the Sorceress class because of her dark magic and playstyle. They have very high mobility and plenty of AoE with fast clear speed, as well as high burst damage once awakened. But they do have low defenses and can be somewhat of a glass cannon, that must rely on well timed iframes.

DIFFICULTY

PVP

PVE

SIEGE

This class is average in 1v1 situations because of their low defenses and if caught with CC they will probably die. However, the Dark Knight is strong in 5v5s and large scale PvP due to their AoE damage and high burst. The role of a Dark Knight in a Node Wars/Siege is to either sit at the backline or flank the enemy team, focusing on damage and CC. They are also one of the fastest classes to grind with because of their high mobility, and lots of AoE. The class isn’t too hard to pick up and is one of the easier classes to play, but to really excell with the class you will need to put a lot of time into practising your positioning and working around your iframes/super armor/front guards.

Check out the videos below to see some examples of the Dark Knight in action.

PROS

  • Very fast PvE clear speed
  • Lots of AOE
  • Very high mobility
  • High burst damage
  • Easy to learn
  • Easy to level

CONS

  • Very squishy class
  • No grab skill
  • Lack of CC
  • Stamina and mana issues
  • Weaker in 1v1 situations

Strong against:

Dark Knights are weaker/average in 1v1 situtations and most match ups of equal gear/skill will be hard.
  • Wizard – Wizard is one of your main targets in most PVP situations. Due to your mobility and range this match up should be quite easy. Don’t go into close range and make use of your mid-range skills to safely deal damage. If you get too close use your iframes and super armor to keep your distance when they teleport into you. Also make sure you look out for them using Protective Area and disengage during this time.
  • Witch – Witch is one of your main targets in most PVP situations. They are considered slightly harder than Wizard because of their range advantage and block, which can make them harder to knock down. They have a long range knock up as well that you need to watch out for. Getting close to a Witch is the best position to be in. You should also try to get behind them and CC them with your awakening skill: Spirit Hunt (W + RMB). Try to remain in Super Armor or Frontal Guard as much as possible because Witch has a lot of CC and if you are caught you will most likely die.

Weak against:

  • Striker/Mystic – Striker and Mystic are your hardest match ups as a DK. They have high Magic Damge Reduction and also Evasion which makes them hard for you. Even if you are able to knock them down you will find it hard to kill them. They are also harder to kite and have a lot of skills that can keep pressure on you. You want to aim to stay at mid-range to long rage against them at all times unless they are CC’d. Try to kite as much as possible and poke at them over time without getting caught out. It can be hard to pull off though.
  • Valkyrie – Valkyrie is another hard match up for DK because they can keep frontal block and super armor up all the time. Try to catch a Valkyrie in the gaps between their super armor. Similar to Striker/Mystic, a Valkyrie is also able to pressure you with their dashes and can be hard to kite. Full AP builds are good against a Warrior because it will go through their Damage Reduction and block much easier.
  • Warrior – Warrior is similar to Valkyrie but is considered slightly easier because they don’t have as much CC. The issue though is that they almost always have Super Armor and it can be hard to get them down. Full AP builds are good against a Warrior because it will go through their Damage Reduction and block much easier. Avoid using your awakening skill – Flow: Spirit Blaze (Hotkey) unless they are CC’d because the skill has an animation charge and you will most likely be grabbed during it.
  • Maehwa – Maehewa is a hard match up for DK because they have more mobility and also a lot of Super AAmor and Frontal Guards in their awakening skills. You want to try and get a Maehwa to engage on you and then CC and burst them down using your awakening skill – Flow: Spirit Blaze (Hotkey) and pre-awakening skill – Wheel of Fortune (Shift + F). Try to avoid using your awakening skill – Shattering Darkness (Shift + LMB) and Flow: Bombardment (LMB/ RMB) because they can easily dash around you and CC you. Using your Super Armor will be a lot more effective in this match up due to Maehwa not having a grab.

SKILLS

Pre-Awakening skill build – Level 55 (539 skill points): http://bddatabase.net/us/skillcalc/81415/
If you’ve just reached level 50 or you’re still leveling, use this build to put you in the right direction of what skills you should be using. Prioritize the following skills: Wheel of Fortune, Corrupt Ground, Kamaslyvia Slash, Chain Dusk and Smokey Haze
Make sure you reset your skills at level 56 though because you will need skill points for your awakening skills and will only really need the support skills from pre-awakening.

Post-Awakening skill build – Level 56 (569 skill points): http://bddatabase.net/us/skillcalc/81420
Prioritize the following skills: All awakening skills, Wheel of Fortune, Chain Dusk, Smokey Haze.

High-Tier skill build (without Absolute Skills) – Level 60 (1475 skill points): http://bddatabase.net/us/skillcalc/81419/

  • Keys in round brackets () mean that you hold the key. For example, (HOLD Q) means you hold Q until the next step. (PERMAHOLD Q) means you hold Q throughout the combo.
  • Keys separated by a “+” symbol should be used at the same time. For example, [Q] + [LMB] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time.
  • Keys separated by a “>” symbol show the order you should follow out the steps. For example, [Q] + [LMB] > [F] means you tap Q and LMB at the same time, then tap F
  • [LMB] refers to left-clicking with your mouse, [RMB] refers to right-clicking with your mouse.
  • Red skill names are optional.
  • Blue skill names are awakening skills (level 56+).

GENERAL

Kriegsmesser Training

[LMB]

This skill is automatically skilled into when you level up and is your auto attack. It is a low damage skill used for regenerating your mana or gathering up monsters.

Scarring Slash

[LMB] + [A] OR [D]

This skill allows you to strafe to the side whilst auto attacking. It will also spin up to 5 enemies so their back is facing you (not in PvP). It is a low damage skill that I don’t recommend putting points into.

iconSudden Attack
[LMB] after sprinting

This skill can be used after sprinting or while using Smoky Haze, by click [LMB]. On a successful hit it will knockback up to 5 targets. It is a low damage skill that I wouldn’t recommend putting points into.

Vedir’s Dogma

Quick Slot

Vedir’s Dogma is only available in your Quick Slot. It is a buff which will increase the skill effects of Kriegsmesser Training, Scarring Slash and Sudden Attack by 20%. Whilst the buff is active your mana will be drained by -20 every 3 seconds. If used again it will cancel the buff. This skill is something you will probably never use as the skill it effects are low damage and only really useful for regenerating your mana or in combos.

iconDark Shadow

[Q]

This skill is your block. When the block is used, your DP is increased by +12 for 10 seconds. You cannot move whilst blocking, this will cancel the skill. You can also cancel by pressing [Q] again.

iconSplit Second

[LMB] while using Dark Shadow

This skill can be used whilst you are blocking [Q] to hit up to 10 targets and inflict stiffness on them. It deals a low amount of damage but the CC can be very useful in PvP.

iconSpirit Satiation

(HOLD SHIFT) + (HOLD SPACE)

This skill can be channeled to recover your HP by +10 and mana by +30 at rank 1. It is optional whether or not you want to put extra points into it to increase the regeneration rate.

iconSpirit Combustion

Passive

This skill is your passive and putting points into it will increase your Accuracy and Magic Attack Power. It is important to level up.

iconAwakening: Imperious Vediant
[C]

This skill allows you to swap between your main hand and awakening weapon

iconOverlord
[E]

This skill can be used every 3 minutes to give you a 30 second buff, increasing your Attack Speed by 30%, Movement Speed by +30%, Critical Hit chance by 24% and Accuracy by 15%.

iconHallucination Gap
[Q] > [LMB] while using Dark Shadow

Clearance of Welcome can be used whilst blocking [Q] to sideways slash the enemy, inflicting stiffness and dealing high damage.

MOBILITY

icon
Evasion

(HOLD SHIFT) + [A] OR [S] OR [D]

This skill is your roll. You can roll to the sides or backwards. You can also double tap [W] to roll forwards, or double tap in any other direction.

iconDusk

(HOLD SHIFT) + [A] OR [D]

This skill is your sideways dash. The skill has no collision and is also an iframe. It will recover a small amount of mana and at max rank it can be used twice.

iconSmoky Haze
(HOLD SHIFT) + [W]

This skill is your forwards dash. It is great for engaging as the skill gives you super armor and is also an iframe. Using the skill gives you a movement speed buff. It’s important to note that there is collision when using this skill.

iconShadow Bullet
[RMB] + [A] OR [D]

This skill will strafe a short distance to the sides and unleash a projectile which can hit up to 7 targets. The skill does have low damage which is reduced in PvP, but it inflicts stiffness and also reduces the targets movement speed. This is a great crowd control skill, especially for PvP and it is optional whether or not to level it up for the extra damage if you have the skill points. Another important thing to note is that if you put points into Shadow Bullet: Air, you can jump [SPACE] then use the skill, and your character will become invisible whilst moving through the air.

iconNocturne
Quick Slot

This skill can only be used in your Quick slot but can be used in two different ways. Begin by using the skill on your hot bar, this will make your character temporarily vanish, you can then choose to use [W] to teleport behind your enemies back and attack, or [S] to move backwards and block. The skill does have low damage but can hit up to 7 targets, reducing their movement speed, attack speed and casting speed by -10% for 10 seconds. It’s a great skill to use to get behind the enemy and outplay your opponents in PVP.

iconTrap of Vedir
[S] + [F]

This skill will make your character jump backwards and unleash a ranged explosion in front of you. It has high damage, stuns the targets and also decreases the enemies evasion by -15% for 10 seconds.

iconShattering Darkness
[SHIFT] + [LMB]

This skill will make your character leap backwards and unleash a high damaging explosion in front of them. The animation is similar to Trap of Vedir but the skills themselves are very different. Instead Shattering Darkness will recover your mana by +10 for each hit, and deal extra magic damage as well as it’s base damage. The skill has a 100% Critical Hit chance.

iconTwilight Dash
[F]

This skill is your forwards dash when in awakening form. It will teleport you forwards then deal damage where you teleport to. The skill will recover your mana by +10 for each successful hit and also increase your movement speed by 10% for 10 seconds. It is a great skill to engage with, doesn’t have collision and will give you super armor whilst in use.

iconSpirit Hunt
[W] + [RMB]

Spirit Hunt will charge forwards a short distance and can be used as a gap closer. After the charge you will slash out on either side of you dealing damage to enemies around you and inflicting stiffness. Whilst using Spirit Hunt you also have super armor so it is a great skill for engaging and gap closing.

DAMAGE

iconUnveiled Dagger

[F]

Unveiled Dagger is a stabbing attack which can inflict stiffness if successful. It will give you an Attack Speed +10% buff for 5 seconds as well as apply bleeding damage -30 every 3 seconds for 9 seconds. The Attack speed, Stiffness and Bleeding Damage will not be applied if the skill is used whilst on cooldown, but the skill has a short cooldown of 3 seconds.

iconHidden Strike

[F] after using Unveiled Dagger

This skill is an extension of Unveiled Dagger and can be used after it by pressing [F] again. The skill will stun targets and deal high damage.

iconDarkness Burst

[RMB]

This skill is a low damage skill that I honestly wouldn’t bother putting any points into. You may even want to lock the skill to avoid conflicts with your other combos. The skill knocks back targets but not in PvP.

iconAir Strike

[W] + [F]

This skill is one of your more reliable crowd control skills. It has a chance of inflicting floating on the upward slash, and then bound on the downward slash. Whilst moving your character is also invincible. You shouldn’t waste this skill and don’t use it to engage with.

iconLuscious Snare

Quick Slot

This skill is a high damage skill that can hit up to 7 targets. Using the skill will mark the targets with an explosion, after 15 seconds the explosion will detonate and will stun and damage the targets if successful.

iconSlanted Balance (Optional)

[S] + [LMB]

This skill is an optional PvE skill that you may want to put points into if you have not yet got your awakening. The skill will inflict floating on a successful hit but it’s damage is reduced in PvP.

Pervasive Darkness (Optional)
[SPACE] in certain situations

This skill is an optional PvE skill that you may want to put points into if you have not yet got your awakening. The skill can be used whilst guarding [Q] to spin the enemy so that their back is facing you (not in PvP). It can also be used in other situations and will recover a small amount of mana on hit and decrease the enemies DP by -10 for 10 seconds. Damage is heavily reduced in PvP and if the skill is used whilst on cooldown spin effect, mana recovery and Dp decrease is not effective.

iconRavage Rake (Optional)

[LMB] + [RMB]

This skill is an optional PvE skill you can level up if you don’t have your awakening yet. It is a horizontal slash that can hit up to 7 targets and recover mana on each hit. You can also take the Flow version of the skill which changes the skill and can be used by holding [LMB] and [RMB]. It will knock back players (not in PvP) and can hit up to 10 targets. It does have high damage but it’s damage is heavily reduced in PvP.

iconRepeated Annihilation

[SHIFT] + [RMB]

I wouldn’t recommend putting any points into this skill. You may also want to lock this skill to avoid conflicts with your skill combos. It has average damage which is reduced when used on cooldown or in PvP.

iconEnforcement (Optional)

[RMB] + [S]

This skill is completely optional but I honestly wouldn’t recommend taking it unless you don’t have your awakening yet and have plenty of spare points. But I would recommend experimenting with this skill and deciding for yourself. The skill does inflict stiffness if successful and can hit up to 10 targets if you level it up fully. The ultimate and flow version also extends the skill and if you choose to take this skill I would recommend also taking both of these. The flow version in particular can be used by holding [RMB] and [S]. If successful and not used on cooldown, it will float the targets and deal extra damage.

iconLunacy of Vedir

Quick Slot

Lunacy of Vedir is your 100% Black Spirit Rage skill. It is a high damage skill which can hit up to 10 targets and also inflict bound if successful. The skill also has 100% critical hit chance and increased damage if used with 100% Black Spirit Rage.

iconKamasylvia Slash

[LMB] + [SHIFT]

This skill is a high damage skill that has a short charge and will deal more damage and recover more mana if fully charged. If charged, the attacke range is also increased by 50%. While using the skill you will automatically block and if the hit is successful, a maximum of 10 targets will be knocked down.

iconWheel of Fortune

[F] + [SHIFT]

This skill is a high damage slash that will inflict floating on a maximum of 10 targets (fully leveled) if successful. Whilst the skill animation is in effect, your character will have super armor. The damage is slightly reduced in PvP but it is still a strong skill because of the super armor it gives you.

iconObsidian Ashes (Optional)

[E] + [SHIFT]

This skill is completely optional and I have seen it being taken by a lot of players as well as some of them even putting Skill Add-ons onto this skill.  I personally do not use it and wouldn’t recommend putting points into it unless you do not have your awakening yet and have the spare points. But I would recommend experimenting with this skill and deciding for yourself. This skill is your 200% Black Spirit Rage skill and will bound up to 7 targets if a hit is successful. The damage is reduced in PvP but it has 100% critical hit chance.

iconCorrupt Ground
[Q] + [SHIFT]

This skill stuns up to 7 targets all around you and also recovers quite a lot of mana and health.

iconSoul Snatch

[SPACE] in certain situations

This skill is a high damage skill that can be used in certain situations to deal additional damage. For example you can use it after Spirit Hunt by simply pressing [SPACE]. Soul Snatch deals high damage, inflicts stiffness if successful and also recovers your mana by +10 for each hit. If used on cooldown, the stiffness and mana regen is not applied.

iconCluster of Despair

(HOLD RMB)

This skill is a mid ranged skill which will cause your character to slowly step forwards and deal high damage in explosions over time. The enemy will have a movement speed reduction of -25% for 10 seconds if hit. This is not applied if the skill is used whilst on cooldown.

iconGrip of Grudge
[SHIFT] + [F]

This skill will deal damage to enemies directly in front of you and inflicting stiffness if successful. You will also recover +15 mana for each hit.

iconSeed of Catastrophe
[SHIFT] + [E]

This skill is your 200% Black Spirit Rage skill. It will deal damage to enemies directly in front of you and knock them down if successful. The skill has 100% critical hit chance and you also have super armor when using the skill. This will be your main skill in Siege/Nodewars and you’ll be spamming this skill at the backline. Your role will be to deal high damage and CC targets with this skill for other players to follow up on.

iconSpirit Blaze

[S] + [RMB]

This skill slashes twice and knocks down targets after the second slash if it hits. The skill has both sword damage and magic damage, as well as a 100% Critical Hit change. Damage is heavily reduced and knock down is not applied if the skill is used whilst on cooldown, but it has a short cooldown of 7 seconds (5 sec at max rank – level 59).

iconSpirit Legacy

[SHIFT] + [LMB]

This skill is your 100% Black Spirit Rage skill. It will deal damage to enemies in front of you and has a 100% Critical Hit chance. If it successfully hits it’s targets, you will have mana regen +10 on each hit, the enemies DP will be reduced by -20 for 10 seconds, as well as them being stunned. If the skill is used on cooldown the stun effect will not be applied and damage will be reduced.

iconTouch of Exploitation
[S] + [LMB]

This skill deals 4 strikes at enemies immediately in front of you. The skill will recover your health for each successful hit and will also knock down the targets.. Using this skill whilst it is on cooldown will reduce it’s damage and the knock down effect will not be applied.

iconFlow: Root of Catastrophe
[LMB] after Seed of Catastrophe

Flow: Root of Catastrophe can be used after Seed of Catastrophe by pressing [LMB]. It has a 100% Critical Hit chance and also gives you super armor whilst moving. It’s important to note that there is no collision when moving backwards.

iconFlow: Spirit Blaze
[RMB] after Spirit Blaze

This skill can be used after Spirit Blaze by pressing [RMB]. It will deal an additional slash that has 100% Critical Hit chance and will also knock down the enemy if successful. Whilst using Flow: Spirit Blaze, you will have super armor.

iconFlow: Bombardment
[LMB] after Scattering the Darkness

This skill can be used after Shattering Darkness by pressing [LMB] to leap again and deal an additional high damage explosion. It has a 100% Critical Hit chance and deals both sword damage and magic damage.

ABSOLUTE SKILLS

Below are the recommended Absolute Skills you should take:

Absolute: Lunacy of Vedir – Requires level 59 (35 Skill Points)
Absolute: Nocturne – Requires level 58 (45 Skill Points)
Absolute: Wheel of Fortune – Requires level 60 (54 Skill Points)

Absolute: Lunacy of Vedir, Absolute: Nocturne and Absolute: Wheel of Fortune are highly recommended skills for Dark Knight. Lunacy of Vedir is the best absolute skill that Dark Knight has. It deals high damage and takes away a huge chunk of health if you have someone knocked down. The Absolute: Nocturne skill adds extra damage to a skill you will often use, while Wheel of Fortune gets a decent damage increase and the skill also has super armor.
You should prioritize taking Lunacy of Vedir, Nocturne and Wheel of Fortune before anything else.

Absolute: Slanted Balance –
Requires level 56 (30 Skill Points)
Absolute: Air Strike

Requires level 56 (27 Skill Points)
Absolute: Obsidian Ashes
Requires level 58 (30 Skill Points)

Absolute: Slanted Balance is a good skill that does decent damage in both PVE and PVP. The skill also has a Frontal Guard, making it more viable in PVP. Absolute: Air Strike is often used as well mostly for movement, but the Absolute version will add more damage. Absolute: Obsidian Ashes is a more optional skill that you don’t need to focus on straight away. The skill gives decent damage and is useful in some situations. The skill will also be needed for the level 57 rabam skill.

Optional Absolute Skills:

Absolute: Pervasive Darkness – Requires level 57 (32 Skill Points)
Absolute: Kamasylvia Slash – Requires level 60 (40 Skill Points)
Absolute: Hidden Strike – Requires level 56 (18 Skill Points)
Absolute: Unveiled Dagger – Requires level 56 (27 Skill Points)

These Absolute Skills are more optional and totally depends on preference. Absolute: Pervasive Darkness is rarely used in PVP and is more of a personal preference in PVE due to it’s mana regen on hit. Absolute: Kamaslyvia Slash, Absolute Hidden Strike and Absolute: Unveiled Dagger are all optional as well. The skills have decent damage but are more filler skills that you don’t need to take straight away, especially if you are lacking in skill points.

RABAM SKILLS

Level 56
Shadow Strike – Requires [Luncay of Vedir] and [Shadow Bullet II]
Wrath of Vedir – Requires [Luncay of Vedir] and [Corrupt Ground V]

I would recommend trying out both of these skills and testing which you prefer. It really comes down to personal preference. Shadow Strike is similar to Obsidian Ashes but it is faster and has a shorter range, while Wrath of Vedir is a good combo to use with Lunacy of Vedir. It is great to use in PVE because of the pull, but the skill also has super armor on it, making it a good choice for PVP.

Level 57
Obsidian Blaze – Requires [Wheel of Fortune V] and [Obsidian Ashes V]
Unveiled Fate Requires [Wheel of Fortune V] and [Unveiled Dagger III]

Both of these skills are quite lackluster and not really worth taking if you are lacking skill points. Obsidian Blaze is a much better choice out of the two skills though, because of it’s super armor. Unveiled Fate can leave you vulnerable and it’s much safer and faster to just use the combo: Unveiled Dagger into Wheel of Fortune.

WEAPONS/ARMOR

The best weapons in the game are currently dropped from World Bosses.
For more information on this click here to view our World Bosses guide.

Primary Weapons:

icon Rosar Kriegsmesser
The Rosar Kriegsmesser is what you should be aiming for to level your character. You should enhance it to at least +7 for leveling and then PRI or higher as soon as possible if you don’t have Liverto/Kzarka. Aim to buy a +15 Rosar Kriegsmesser if you can to save your enhancing resources. Ideally you will want to buy or make it ultimate (yellow) to close the AP difference as well. Make sure you also make use of the gem slots to get your Attack Speed and Critical Hit up to 5.

Another alternative is the Yuria Kriegsmesser which is similar to the Rosar. Or you can use a Styd Kriegsmesser for leveling if you are having trouble obtaining a Rosar. This weapon can be bought from a Blacksmith and will give you 18 – 22 AP as well as a lot of accuracy.

icon Liverto Kriegsmesser
Liverto is the second strongest mainhand and much easier to obtain and enhance than Kzarka. You can skip Liverto and go straight from Rosar to Kzarka if you don’t have much silver or you are lucky with obtaining Kzarka. If you have enough silver and decide to invest in Liverto, aim to buy it at +15 or higher to save enhancing materials. You will want to upgrade it to PRI or higher as soon as possible. I would recommend getting it to TRI at most and then you really want to switch to Kzarka. The liverto has slightly more AP than Rosar, but it also has a Critical Hit Rate +3 item effect.

icon Kzarka Kriegsmesser
Kzarka is the BiS main weapon for all classes for PVP and is a requirement for end game PVP. It has the same AP as Liverto but more accuracy and an Attack Speed +3 item effect.

Offhand Weapons:

icon Saiyer Ornamental Knot
Saiyer Ornamental Knot is your accuracy offhand and also has a bit of evasion. It is the best offhand to go with for beginners and is also worth keeping because it is very effective against high evasion enemies/classes. You should aim to get this weapon to +15 as soon as possible, but make sure to prioritize your main hand and awakening weapon first. You can also ulimate the Saiyer Ornamental Knot for a small accuracy increase and special attack extra damage +1 level effect. The only downside to this offhand is that it only has 1 crystal slot.

icon Kutum Ornamental Knot
Kutum Ornatmental Knot gives a mixture of AP and DP with added monster damage and accuracy. It also has an item effect of 10% ignore resistance and 2 gem slots. The monster damage and accuracy on this weapon undeniably make it best in slot for PVE.

icon Nouver Ornamental Knot
Nouver Ornamental Knot is considered the current best in slot choice for Dark Knight once you are at end game gear with a good amount of AP and accuracy already. You should aim to have at least 350 accuracy with this offhand before switching to it. The weapon gives pure AP and an all resistance +10% item effect. The Nouver is highly effective against enemies/classes with high damage reduction. If you are lacking the money to upgrade Nouver then Saiyer is a very good alternative and you should keep it and switch between Saiyer/Nouver depending on your target.

Awakening Weapons:

icon Thorn Tree Vediant
This is a green grade weapon which is sold by some Blacksmith/Arms dealers. You will also receive a +10 Thorn Tree Vediant when you complete your awakening quests. This weapon has lower AP than the other options but it is still viable for PvE due to it’s Damage Against Every Species +5 item effect. It’s also much cheaper to enhance and repair max durability than the other options so if you don’t have a lot of money or participate in a lot of PvP, then this weapon is a good alternative until you get Dandelion.

iconLight-Swallowing Vediant
Light-Swallowing Vediant is a blue grade weapon which is given to you when you complete the awakening quests. The only ways to obtain this weapon is through the quest or night vendor. This makes is hard to obtain and it can be more expensive to repair. The Vediant is good for PvP and has higher AP than the Thorn Tree Vediant. It also has a Damage Against Human +7 item effect which is good for PVP.

icon Dandelion Vediant
Dandelion weapons are the BiS awakening weapons. It has much higher AP but it is only obtainable from a Dandelion Weapon Box (Karanda world boss loot) or from the night vendor.

Armor:

The best armor in the game is currently dropped from Bosses. You will want to aim to get the boots and gloves first.
icon Griffon’s Helmet (helmet)  – dropped from Griffons in Kamaslyvia.
icon Dim Tree Spirit’s Armor (chest) – dropped from Dim Tree Spirit.
icon Bheg’s Gloves (gloves) – dropped from Bheg.
icon Urugon’s Shoes (shoes)   – dropped from Monastery Leader.
icon Giath’s Helmet (helmet)  – alternative choice – dropped from Giath.
icon Muskan’s Shoes (shoes) alternative choice dropped from Monastery Leader.

The full set will give you Maximum MP/WP/SP +100, Maximum HP +300, Max Stamina +200, Accuracy +1 (increases with enhancement), Evasion +1 (increases with enhancement), Attack Speed +1, Casting Speed +1
In the mean time you should be using one of the following armor sets:

A popular armor choice is to go full Grunil set because it increases your maximum HP and will give you 2 socket slots on each piece, along with extra AP +7 set bonus. Another advantage of using this set is that it is viable on any class, allowing you to swap to another class easily.

Full Heve set is also a very popular choice because it has an easier transition to boss gear whilst. As soon as you get one boss item with Grunil, you lose the set bonuses which Grunil weaker.

Another alternative is to use is the Lemoria set if you have Liverto. It is great for leveling because of its set bonuses and has slightly more DP than Grunil.

ACCESSORIES

There are a lot of choices available when it comes to accessories and it really depends on what you can get your hands on. The accessories you use at end game also relies heavily on all your other gear/build and also your target. Use BDOPLANNER.COM to help you build your gear.

Earrings:

If available I recommend using the Asula’s Crimon Eye Earrings (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 7 AP and also has very good set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares earrings for 2 AP (or other AP accessories) and switch to Witch’s Earring or Blue Coral Earrings as soon as possible.

You want to aim for DUO/TRI Witch’s Earrings (9 AP/11 AP) or go with Blue Coral Earrings before swapping to a DUO Tungrade Earrings (11 AP) because of the huge difference in cost. Tungrade Earrings are BiS earrings.

Red Coral Earrings are also good on Dark Knight if you are lacking accuracy because they give a lot of accuracy and also have a bit of AP. I would only recommend using a max of x1 Red Coral Earring and only if the earring is TRI or higher, otherwise you will lose out on too much AP.

The Capotia Earring is also worth mentioning. It is available at level 62+ only but is a very good earring because of it’s high AP. It makes a perfect backup for enhancing and is essentially a free TRI Tungrad Earring.

Another viable option is the Manos Ruby Earrings if you would like to go for a DR/Evasion build.

Rings:
If available I recommend using the Asula’s Crimon Eye Ring (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 7 AP and 2 DP as well as damage reduction and strong set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares rings for 2 AP (or other AP accessories) and switch to Mark of Shadow as soon as possible for the 5 AP and later on use DUO/TRI Crescent Rings.

Sahazad’s Ring of Monarch is also available through the Valencia part I and II quests. It can’t be enhanced but it is a good alternative until you can get Ring of Crescent Guardian or Mark of Shadow to PRI/DUO.

The Capotia Ring is also worth mentioning. It is available at level 61+ only but is a very good ring because of it’s high AP. It makes a perfect backup for enhancing and is essentially a free TRI Ring of Crescent Guardian.

Necklace:

If available I recommend using the Asula’s Crimon Eye Necklace (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 11 AP and 3 DP as well as damage reduction and an amazing set bonus. Otherwise use Bares Necklace for 4 AP and enhance this to DUO/TRI for 8 AP/10 AP. Enhancing a Bares Necklace is much cheaper than using an un-enhanced BiS necklace. You then want to swap to a DUO Serap’s or use Necklace of Shultz the Gladiator, and later a DUO Ogre/Laytenn’s Power Stone/Tungrade.

Belt:

If available I recommend using the Asula’s Crimon Eye Belt (Asula Set) if you are new to the game, this gives you 6 AP and has amazing set bonuses. Otherwise use Bares Belt for 2 AP (or other AP accessories) and swap to Belt of Shultz the Gladiator or Basilisk’s Belt as soon as possible for more AP.

You want to aim for a PRI/DUO Belt of Shultz the Gladiator before swapping to DUO Basilisk’s because it is much cheaper and easier to get hold of. Basilisk’s Belt and Valtarra are very good belts but Tungrade is currently the best in slot.

EXAMPLE GEAR BUILDS

I highly recommend using BDOPLANNER.COM to help you plan your build and track your progression.

Below are some example builds to help you when gearing up and understand what to aim for.

Leveling build: link
Here is what to aim for when leveling and before you get your boss gear. You should focus on enhancing your weapons first and then your armor. Try to also ultimate all your pieces as soon as possible, especially your armor because it will give quite a big DP boost.

Mid-Tier build: link
Here is a mid-tier build to use if you are looking to improve your gear before you get boss gear. You may want to use Red Coral Earrings or Witch’s Earrings instead but they can be quite expensive compared to the rest of the gear.

End-game PVP build: link
Here is what to eventually aim for if you are going for a full AP damage build. It takes a long time to get to this stage, and there are lots of small improvements and other accessories you will use along the way, but this is ideally your end game build for PVP damage. You can also use one Red Coral Earring and a Tree Spirit Belt for extra accuracy if you need it.

I would recommend keeping your Saiyer Ornamental Knot offhand when you switch to Nouver. You should be changing between Saiyer and Nouver depending on your opponent, using Saiyer for high evasion targets, and Nouver against players with high damage reduction.

End-game PVE build: link
Here is what to aim for high level PVE, such as Pila Ku, Gyfin or Aakman. Kutum is very important for end game PVE.

CONSUMABLES

When grinding, use EXP Elixirs and Milk Tea, then other food of your choice such as Margoria Seafood and Serendia Special. It really depends on your preference.

For your food rotation in node wars/siege, I would recommend using  Knight Combat RationsKamaslyvia SpecialValencia Special and then King of Jungle Hamburger in that order.

The recipes for these are:

ICON RESULT INGREDIENTS USE
Knight Combat Rations Dark Pudding x1, Ham Sandwich x1, Fruit Wine x1, Meat Croquette x1 All Attack +5, Damage against human race +5, All Damage Reduction +5 for 120 minutes
icon Special Kamasylvia Meal Rainbow Button Mushroom Sandwich x1, Coconut Pasta x1, Fig Pie x1 , Fruit Wine x2, Rainbow Button Mushroom Cheese Melt x1 Max HP +150, Max Stamina 200, Back Attack Damage +5% for 110 minutes
Special Valencia Meal Teff Sandwich x1, King of Jungle Hamburger x1, Couscous x1, Fig Pie x2, Date Palm Wine x2 Nullifying all Resistances +4%, Resistance against all Debuffs +4%, All Evasion +10, Decrease of damages from Monsters -6% for 110 minutes
icon King of Jungle Hamburger Teff Bread x4, Pickled Vegetables x2, Lion Meat x4, Nutmeg x3 Ignores All Resistance +3%, Critical Hit Damage +5% for 110 minutes

If you don’t have 5 Critical Hit Rate then you may want to swap Margoria Seafood for the Kamaslyvia Meal because it’s very important to have 5 Critical Hit Rate. Make sure you use Margoria Seafood last because it has the smallest duration and you want to keep all your buffs up as long as possible.

The recipe for Margoria Seafood Meal is:

ICON RESULT INGREDIENTS USE

icon
Margoria Seafood MealPrawn salad x1, Steamed Prawn x1, Stir-Fried Oyster x1, Butter-Roasted Lobster x1, Fruit Wine x2
Weight limit +50LT, Movement speed +2, Critical Hit Rate +2, Max HP +100 for 90 minutes

For your elixir, you will want to use the Cron Draught, Giant’s Draught. To create this, press “L” then select “Simple Alchemy” and add the ingredients listed below. You do not need any alchemy/processing profession level to craft these.

Cron Draughts will replace any elixir buffs you have used and cannot be stacked with other elixirs (excluding Perfume of Courage, Perfume of Swiftness, Elixir of Deep Sea, Khalk’s Elixir, Spirit Perfume Elixir, Whale Tendon Elixir or Tough Whale Tendon Elixir).

If you consume a Draught Elixir whilst another one has already been used, it will replace the first Draught Elixir. Cron meals and Cron Draughts (elixirs/alchemy) can be used together.

Also, when crafting Cron Draughts, you can substitute ingredients with higher grade ingredients. For example: instead of using Elixir of Shock x3, you can use Elixir of Strong Shock x1.
