Introduction

icon Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass is a very rare treasure to collect. It requires you to grind monsters to collect 3 rare items to craft it. Two of the items drop from monsters in Hystria Ruins and the 3rd item drops from Aakman Temple. It can take hundreds if not thousands of hours to acquire all three pieces so just be aware that this is not something you should expect to get quickly if you do decide to go for it. It’s also recommended to use Item Drop increase buffs as much as possible to increase your chances and try to make the grind a little faster.

Unlike other compasses, Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass is permanent when you acquire it. The compass will show you your location on the map even when you are in the Margoria Sea or Valencia Desert.

It also has a unique effect which allows you to send a teleport invite to party members, to instantly summon them to your location (similar to the guild command to gather skill).
  • Party members must be in the same channel as you to receive the teleport invite
  • The teleport invite is available for 10 minutes
  • Party members who log out or change channels after receiving the teleport invite cannot be summoned to your location
  • Cannot be used whilst you are in a platoon
  • Cannot be used during a node war or siege
  • Cannot be used whilst you are in the Red Battlefield or in Jail
  • If party members are riding a horse, camel or donkey, the mount will be teleported with them. You cannot receive the teleport invite if you are riding any other mount at the time
  • Cannot be used if you or your party members are carrying a trade item, or their mount is carrying a trade item.

Creating the Upgraded Compass

The Upgraded Compass requires the following items to create it:
icon Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass Parts (Grinding monsters at Hystria Temple)
iconLafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass Parts (Grinding monsters at Hystria Temple)
icon Lafi Bedmountain’s Upgraded Compass Parts (Grinding monsters at Aakman Temple)
icon Blood Ruby (craft using processing or buy from the central market)
icon Ocean Sapphire (craft using processing or buy from the central market)
icon Gold Topaz (craft using processing or buy from the central market)

Once you have all 6 items you must place them in the following pattern in your inventory to create the Upgraded Compass

How to identify the parts

When the parts drop, they all have the exact same name and icon:
iconUpgraded Compass Parts

This can be frustrating because in Hystria two different pieces can drop and you won’t know which one you have unless you check your system chat to see which mob it dropped from.

You can identify the parts by taking them to Ain Greid at the Ancient Fissue node.

You then have the option to “ask him to appraise the parts”. This will reveal their real icon so you can tell which one you have.

Note: you will not get the dialogue option if the compass part is locked in your inventory

Obtaining the pieces

To get to Hystria Temple or Aakman Temple, you will need to go into the Valencia Desert and look for a portal. The portals can randomly spawn in set locations and can be a portal for either Hystria or Aakman. The portals have slight differences to differenciate them but can be hard to spot. I recommend checking out this post on reddit to help you spot the difference.

You can also check out our Interactive Map, which shows all possible portal locations.

Hystria Temple

Hystria Temple is where you can obtain two of the pieces for the compass. Hystria is quite a hard grind spot and I recommend at least 240 AP (with TET Kutum) and 290 DP. Depending on your class you may find this grind spot easier or harder, I recommend asking your Class Discord for advice if it’s your first time going there.

iconThe first piece can be obtained by killing the “Vodkhan” mob only. It has a 0.005% chance of dropping.

iconThe second piece can be obtained by killing the “Tukar Balten” or “Elten” mobs. It has a 0.0005% chance of dropping, which is the lowest of all of the pieces. This piece usually ends up taking thousands of hours to grind for and is usually the last piece players will go for.

Aakman Temple

Aakman Temple is where you can obtain one of the pieces for the compass. This is usually one of the most common pieces because Aakman is a popular grind spot. I recommend at least 240 AP (with TET Kutum) and 280 DP to start grinding here.

icon This piece can be dropped from “Aakman Elite Guardian” mobs and has a drop chance of 0.005%.

Other pieces (gems)

You also require 3 gems to craft the Upgraded Compass. These can either be processed by yourself, or you can buy them from the central market. They are usually in stock.

If you would like to craft them yourself you need to press [L] to open the Processing window, then select the Shaking option. You also need Shaking: Skilled knowledge to craft these, which you can unlock at Processing Artisan 1. Use the recipes below to craft:

iconGem Polisher x3, Resplendent Ruby x7

iconGem Polisher x3, Resplendent Sapphire x7

iconGem Polisher x3, Resplendent Topaz x7
