Introduction
To enter the Aakman and Hystria grind spots, you must first take an Aakman Portal or a Hystria Portal into the area.
- The Aakman and Hystria Portals spawn in the Valencia Desert and will take you to either Aakman or Hystria.
- The portals are at fixed locations, but it is random which ones will appear at what time.
- The portal locations change every 15 minutes and are different on each channel.
Tip: Use your guild home channels to swap between the channels quickly and check the same portal location. I often check the 2 portal locations just north of Sand Grain.
Portal Appearance
You can also complete a quest to change the portal appearance so that you can distinguish between an Aakman and Hystria portal.
The portal pillars can be seen from quite a far render distance, so keep your eye out for them when searching portal locations.

Portal Appearance Quest
Completing this questline will change the appearance of the Hystria portal to add a yellow glow around it, so you can see the difference between an Aakman or Hystria portal easier.
Aakman Portal (after quest)
Hystria Portal (after quest)
The first quest can be obtained from Karashu at Sand Grain Bazaar and the quest is called “Forgotten Core Part”.
Quest Requirements:
- Level 57 or higher
- Completed the Mediah Story Questline
The quest will then take you into the desert to the quest location. The NPC is just east of the Purity node and can be found down the canyon in the desert. You may want to use an Ancient Explorer Compass to help you find the location.
Go down into the canyon on the south side and you will find the NPC along the west side.
Talk to the NPC and hand over the Alchemy Device’s Core Part, then accept the next quest and right-click the potion in your inventory to use it. Speak to the NPC again to finish the quest line.
Direct Entry Quests
You can complete a questline to unlock the ability to enter Aakman and Hystria directly (without finding a portal). Both of the questlines are quite long and require a lot of running back and forth through the desert. At the end of each one, you must defeat a boss, but it is not difficult and a season character should have no problems.
- You can enter Aakman and Hystria directly at the cost of Black Spirit’s Claw x1 each time.
- Sage class players can enter completely free because of their “Ator’s Eye” passive skill but still have to complete the quest to unlock it.
- Go to Atosa at the Aakman node after completing the questlines and use the chat option to teleport.
Aakman Questline
The first quest is obtained from Atosa at the Aakman Node and is called “Chaotic Aakman Temple“.
Quest Requirements:
- Level 60 or higher
- Completed the Valencia Story Questline
Next, you must find the Akumsa NPC, he is not inside Aakman Temple and can be found at the ruined entrance which is north of Pilgrim’s Haven.
Then, go to Shakatu to complete the next quest and collect the quest “Atlasia’s Grave”. You then need to go to Basilisk’s Den and interact with the various statues.
Choose the “light a fire” option to complete the quest and then go back up to the grave to hand it in.
After going back to Shakatu again, collect the quest “Thorough Investigation of the Ruins”, then go to Cadry Ruins.
Go back to Shakatu again and take the quest “Ceremony to Honor Atlasia”. This quest will take you to Bashim Base.
Interact with the brazier next to the altar and use the bottom option to insert 1 silver. Then go to Waragon Nest to interact with the other altar.
Now you will need to go back into the desert to Crescent Shrine.
Go back to Akumsa after interacting with the altar at Crescent Shrine. Hand over the 3 items to complete the quest.
Afterward, collect the quest “Atosa’s Attachment” from your Black Spirit, then go to the Aakman node manager Atosa to obtain the Boss Summon Scroll.
To use the summon scroll, you must go to the basement of Valencia Castle.
Go through the cave entrance on the east side of Valencia castle, then use the summon scroll in your inventory to summon the boss.
After killing the boss you can return to Atosa at the Aakman node to complete the questline.
Hystria Questline
The first quest is obtained from Sameh at Ibellab Oasis and is called “Rumors at Ibellab Oasis“.
Quest Requirements:
- Level 60 or higher
- Completed the Valencia Story Questline
After picking up the quest, speak to Eugene the Stable Keeper who is located just behind Sameh. Next, go to the quest location just northeast of Ibellab Oasis and use the Shabby Shovel in your inventory.
This will summon a Laytenn at the location. Complete the quest then talk to your Black Spirit to take the next quest “Risen Ancient Weapon”.
There will be monsters in the north and south of the Laytenn which you must kill to complete the quest. Talk to the Laytenn to complete, then get the quest “Hystria’s Nightmare” from your Black Spirit.
Now you need to go to the Aakman node to the south of the desert and find Atosa.
Next you will be sent to Hasrah Ancient Ruins and then Scarlet Sand Chamber (Kutum Spawn location).
Go back to the Laytenn in the desert, located north of Ibellab Oasis. You will get a boss scroll in your inventory, which you must summon in the desert canyon located east of the Pilgrim’s: Purity node.
The boss will spawn with a shield, making it much tankier and harder to kill. Move the boss over to the large destroyed Laytenn in the room and wait near it until a second small Laytenn spawns that will deactivate the shield for you.
Go back to Atosa afterward to finish the quest line. You will have now unlocked the chat option to teleport to Hystria when speaking to Atosa.
