New Region – Edania (Demon Land)
- Edania is the next region and will be released globally on August 6th 2025.
- Console and Chinese region will have a separate release date.
- Edania will be the final region in the Black Desert Act 1 story and will have Part 1 and Part 2.
- Unlike previous regions, the monster zones here will be designed for end-game players with challenging content. The idea is that the region is a place to strive towards for new players, thinking, “one day I will conquer the land”.
- Edania is located north of Valencia. Part 1 will be the west side of Edania, and Part 2 will be the east side of Edania.
- Hakinja Sanctuary is the main hub where you can find a Blacksmith NPC and Stable Keeper.
- There are also 5 Castles (bosses) in the difficulty order: Jordine, Rusalka, Cartian, Enslar, and Caphras.
- Many players have probably heard of these in-game characters before, but Rusalka has only been teased until now. This boss character is from the merfolk story and the same race as Corsair’s mother.
- Part 2 will also have several castles, with the first to be teased as Markthanan’s Castle – the Black Dragon.
- Edania will tie up all loose ends of the Black Desert main story so far in Part 1. Then Part 2 will introduce you to the next chapter, making you excited for the next part of the story. Lots of effort has gone into the creation of the main story, and there are lots of impressive cutscenes to enhance storytelling.
- To start the questline, you need to have completed “The Final Gladious” story on any character. With past main story quests, you had to start the story on the character who had completed the previous stories and met the conditions. However, with Edania you will unlock the story account-wide as long as any of your characters has completed “The Final Gladious”.
- Eg. If Character A completes “The Final Gladious”, Character A, B, or C can start the Edania main story quests.
- You can challenge 1 boss per week, and the higher the difficulty, the better the reward you will get. Loot from these bosses includes a new artifact and lightstone. These new items can be created by combining existing artifacts and lightstones with the new loot. For example, you can create Dehkia’s Visionary Artifact, which gives an additional All AP +6 compared to Dehkia’s Artifact. You can also create an Amplified Lightstone of Fire, which gives additional species damage +2. The lightstone combo will still take effect as long as the lightstone type is the same.
- A new stat will also be added to help you defeat these new bosses. New Crystals with “Extra Damage to Edania Monsters” will be added, called “Crystal of the Dusky Oblivian” or “Crystal of the Dusky Ruin”.
- There are also new life skill crystals, which will combine the existing Life and Vital Crystals to create a crystal with both life skill EXP and Mastery.
- Upgraded versions of the existing Dawn Crystals will be added as well.
- New elixirs, draughts, and perfumes will be added. You can use existing perfumes as ingredients, or the new recipes added with Edania.
- Primordial Fragment and Gem of Primordial are new loot that will be used for crafting the Sovereign Subweapon. 1,000 fragments are required to make the Gem. But you will get 100 fragments from the main quest (once per family).
Edania Defense Gear
- Edania Defense Gear will be added 1 piece at a time. This gear will have both DR and Evasion stats, similar to how the Sovereign Sub-weapon will combine Nouver and Kutum.
- To craft the Edania Defense Gear, you need to combine TET Slumbering Gear with a Fragment of Edania. This can be obtained by defeating any boss in Edania.
- It will be limited how often you can get the enhancement materials. To enhance Edania Defense Gear, you need Edania Black Stones. These are made using Fragments of Edania, and you can only get 1 per week by defeating the new bosses.
- If you have a PEN Slumbering Gear Piece (77 people across all regions currently have at least 1 PEN) you can exchange it for an OCT Edania Defense Gear piece. Since enhancing is time-gated, and it takes so long to enhance, you will be ahead of others for a long time. This is to make sure the players who have worked hard to obtain the PEN are recognised.
- As an example of enhancement rates:
- TET > PEN with a 240 failstack is a 14% chance. 970 Crons per attempt and 11 Agris Essence
- OCT > NOV with a 310 failstack is a 4.9% chance. 2250 Crons per attempt and 30 Agris Essence
- The gear has a lower ancient anvil requirement due to fragments being time-gated.
- Since this is the best gear in the game, it has a dark and intense aura with visual glow effects that unlock at PEN and OCT (similar to Sovereign weapons).
- If you collect all 4 pieces of the Edania Defense Gear, you are rewarded with an outfit set with the armor design. This can be used on an alt if you like the design of the Defense Gear.
- The set effect for the armor is the same as Slumbering Gear pieces. Below are the stats taken from the live stream (exact stats may be subject to change):

Edania’s Throne (PVP)
- Each castle in Edania has a lord, and the first person to challenge the boss will become the lord and sit on Edania’s throne.
- Becoming the lord gives you immense power, but you must also defend the position from challengers.
- Players can obtain an Edania challenge ticket, and each week at a set time, 10 players are selected to battle (the highest AP and DP are selected)
- There are no rules for the battle, and it is a free-for-all, with the last one standing winning the throne. If the lord does not appear to defend their position, it will automatically be lost.
- When you win, you have a week to enjoy the benefits of being the lord. The lord is shared across all servers.
- As the lord, you are rewarded with an exclusive crown to match the theme of each castle. You can use world chat and server without using energy, and you will get a crown icon next to your family name in chat
- Another useful benefit is being able to swap channels with no cooldown near your castle, and no death penalties. This also applies in PVP around your castle.
- Each of the monster zones also has a Marni Realm, and players can purchase a ticket to enter. A portion of the ticket cost goes to the lord as taxes.
- Finally, lords can give blessings. All players near the castle will get an item drop rate +100% buff for 2 hours. The blessing exceeds the 300% cap, meaning you can reach up to 400% item drop rate. The blessing buff can be used up to 10 times in the week they rule.
New Class – Wukong
- The Wukong class is the 30th class and is coming in the next maintenance on 2nd July.
- You can also test out the new class on Global lab Testing Server starting today (28th June).
- The release date for console will be separate and revealed at a later date.
- Wukong is a male class that was first released on BDO Mobile in China. Players on PC can expect some changes, though.
- Wukong is a descendant of Sun Wukong and has power within. He is fated to meet a special woman (Lahn). The details of their connection will be revealed through the story quests.
- His main weapon is the “Power Pole”, his sub-weapon is the “Gourd Bottle”, and his awakening weapon is the “Jade Pillar”. He will be released with Ascension.
- Combat with the Power Pole is about fast, precise combos. He excels at chaining quick attacks into fast extended combos.
- Wukong can also go into “Fighting Buddha” state, where he becomes enlightened and can unleash Power Pole strength. Shadows of Wukong also appear when in the Fighting Buddha state to help deal damage. The shadows are similar to the Striker clones.
- When you hit targets, you automatically move towards the enemy. Wukong also has a Flying Nimbus skill, and it is confirmed that he has a grab.
Upcoming Class – Savior
- Savior is the upcoming class after Wukong.
- She is a female knight with a 2 handed greatsword weapon.
- Unlike Drakania, her weapon is more like a claymore and is similar to the style of Awakening Warrior.
- The release date is not finalized yet, but the class is planned to release alongside Edania Part 2.
New Player Improvements – Olvia School
- Olvia will be revamped with a new layout and buildings as the developers are preparing for “Olvia School.”
- This is designed for new players to create “classes” and community support
- The update will take time, and there is also a new starting zone planned.
- Other updates are also planned, such as UI improvements to help prevent players from feeling so overwhelmed.
- Tuvala accessories will no longer fail at TRI and below. Destruction will still occur, but only TRi or above.
- Starting funds of 10 billion silver for new players who graduate from season servers will also be given to help players progress. To prevent exploits, the full amount will not be given all at once; it will be given in parts through main quests, etc.
UI Improvements – Notifications, Map Update, Buff UI
- There are currently parts of the UI that are too complex for new players.
- Eg. too many notifications, and the world map is too complex.
- The upper screen notifications will be separated, and the default notification settings will be changed so you can only see what is needed. For example, other adventurers’ enhancements will be disabled by default. Cooking and world boss notifications will be addressed through this too, since they currently pile up and overlap. You can now also enable and disable guild enhancements on screen and in the chat window.
- The map will be updated as well. You will be able to see where your alts currently are on the map. By clicking the “Manage Family” character icon, you can see where your alts are. Through this feature, you can also move characters to a specific node. Simply select the character, then the node, and move the character. In the example shown on the stream, it took 20 minutes and cost 5 million silver to move the character. Moving between towns is free.
- Knowledge icons on the map have been cleared up, and it is now easier to see how much knowledge you are missing. The map UI and filter at the top of the map has also been cleared up to make it more user-friendly.
- An Event page will be added in-game where all events are listed so you can find the location more easily. An icon will show when events are ending soon.
- A Buff UI will be added so you can view all your buffs at a glance. When you select a buff in the buff UI, it will show all the items that are giving you the buff. For example, it may show that you have a total of +50% Mount EXP, and by selecting the buff, you can see the EXP is coming from your Venia Riding Attire, Trainer’s Clothes, Lighstone Effect, etc.
- You will soon be able to access energy from your alts in the UI. For example, you will be able to hire workers using energy from other characters. Patrigio’s shop will also be changed so you can use energy from other characters.
Other QoL – Dedicated Enhancement Storage, Party Content
- A dedicated enhancement storage will be added. This storage can be accessed by the entire family with no need to move your items. The storage will show everything needed for enhancement, such as gear, Cron Stones, J Hammers, Advice of Valks, etc. (Excludes central market items like Origin of Hunger)
- Enhancement terms have also been updated to be clearer about what they are. For example, Cron Stones will be properly explained in the enhancement UI.
- For the Black Shrine Party Bosses, you will be able to challenge them again even if you have already used your attempts for the week. This is so players can help friends and guild members even if they have completed their bosses. You will not get rewards if you have already completed your bosses for the week.
- Atoraxxion will also be improved. The daggers required for the next dungeon will drop from the bosses now instead of being given through the quest reward. This means that even if you have completed the dungeon already, you can skip the dungeon and go straight to the boss with your party.
- Pearl Abyss are currently working on a way to instantly swap to your tagged character with no loading screen at all.
All-in-One Preset
- The All-in-One Preset has been spoken about and teased for a while, but it is now almost ready to be released.
- The All-in-One Preset allows you to view all your gear settings on one screen.
- You will also be able to automatically swap between presets depending on the content you are doing at the time. For example, if you are in a monster zone, you will use your PVE preset, then you will automatically swap to a PVP preset when you enter content such as Guild League.
- The All-in-One Preset update is planned for August 28th and is currently being tested.
- In addition, amity buffs such as Carolin’s buff will slowly be phased out, since it is inconvenient due to the low duration of the buff.
Adventure Logs Consolidated
- Adventure logs will be consolidated so that you can unlock all the stats by completing Igor Bartalli’s Adventure Log.
- All other Adventure Logs will become optional, and rewards such as colored titles will be given to players who have completed the other Adventure Logs.
- Pearl Abyss felt that this update was needed to make the early game less overwhelming for new players.
Klau’s Seed Pouch – Farming QoL
- A Seed Pouch item will be added. The developers have been working on making seeds stack, but due to its difficulty, they have created the Seed Pouch as another solution.
- The seed pouch is a storage bag for seeds. You can’t plant seeds directly from the bag, but it should help with inventory space.
- The pouch has 50 slots and requires Farming Skilled Lv. 1 or higher. You can go to the Old Moon Manager to get the Seed Pouch (once per family).
Life Skill Gear
- Since the Mastery update, Silver Embroidered Clothes are not useful other than for EXP.
- The clothes will be removed (except trading and farming), and the effects of the clothes will be added to Manos Clothing.
- As compensation, you will get silver for any Silver Embroidered Clothes you have (up to DUO), and for clothes past DUO enhancement, you will get a WON/BON/JIN LIfe Dawn Crystal.
- WON/BON/JIN Life Dawn Crystals will be added and will go into the Kharazad crystal slot. These slots can be opened for life skills by equipping Preonne Accessories.
- The base processing success rate will also be increased, alongside the effect from Silver Embroidered Processing Clothes added to Manos Clothing.
Pearl Items – Pearl Inventory Slots and Main Maids
- As more and more costumes are added, the lack of Pearl inventory slots is becoming more of an issue. Pearl Abyss is working on a Dressing Room, but this takes time to develop so they are adding 2 new items to help with the lack of inventory space.
- Firstly, Patrigio’s Extra Large Apparel Bag will be added. It has 40 slots for outfits, and you can obtain up to 5 of them from the Loyalty Store.
- Merv’s Carry-On Bag will also be added as a way to quickswap your costumes. You can purchase up to 12 of them a year from the Loyalty Store.
- Any of the original Patrigio/Merv bags will be removed, and the new improved bags will be sent as a replacement.
- Players will be able to designate a “Main Maid” and change the maid’s appearance. The main maid can be any character (such as a Shai in a cute outfit, or a huge Berserker in a butler outfit). You can put the maid in a costume and customise it. The main maid you select will greet you every time you use your maids, and when you board a wagon, your maid will join you. You can also rename the maid and chat with them. Pearl Abyss are experimenting at the moment with AI features. This is only designed as a fun, customisable feature.
Blue Battlefield – Sea PVP
- Blue Battlefield is a naval battle in the open sea. Pearl Abyss has spoken about the idea of the Blue Battlefield for years and ran into several issues during development, but they were passionate about the idea and wanted to keep trying.
- They found that node war rules worked well for the naval battle, and were able to come up with solutions for their critical issues.
- As a result, Blue Battlefield will be similar to node wars but take place in the Balenos and Calpheon Seas. The Balenos Sea region will be released first and will have the same schedule as regular node wars (6 days a week).
- Up to 20 players can join, and they must be active in the war to obtain rewards. For this content, your character stats do not matter as your ship is the main focus.
- To obtain rewards, your guild must destroy at least 10 ships or take a node. The guild occupying the fort at the end wins.
- To make the combat smoother and more strategic, all ship movement stats will be halved, and ships cannot be repaired during the battle, only at a designated Wharf.
- If your ship is destroyed, there are no sailor penalties, and a special traveller’s map will be provided in case you get stranded
- The different types of ships also have different roles during the war:
- The Guild Galley is the flagship. It is extremely durable and can deal a lot of damage to forts. You can only use one Guild Galley.
- Epheria Carracks are best for destroying enemy ships. They can be used to protect the Guild Galley
- Panokseon is like a tank, and the SmoothTurn skill will be changed so that the ship can spin 180 degrees. This way, the ship can hold its position and fight.
- Epheria Galleons can also be used as a wild card ship as they have high damage but low defense (glasscannon).
- Rewards for winning the Blue Battlefield include: Life Skill Mastery +75 and Life EXP +40% buffs, 5,000G Gold Bars, Guild Funds, and an item that allows you to reroll Sea Crystals
Allan Serbin’s Landscape
- Allan Serbin’s Landscape is a new feature that allows you to hunt for treasures in different zones.
- For example, you can select Hystria Ruins and have a chance to obtain compass item drops when you grind somewhere else.
- The Allan Serbin’s Landscape cannot be used anywhere, only monster zones with a 300+ AP requirement.
- You also need to collect a “Scenery” item from the treasure monster zone first. For example, if you grind at Hystria and get a Hystria Scenery, you can activate the spell charges. When you defeat monsters in a different zone it will use the spell charges (similar to Agris Fever)
- The Landscape feature doesn’t increase the item drop rate, and it is actually a fixed lower rate.
- The idea of this feature was to allow players to visit other grind zones, as they didn’t want adventurers to be stuck in one zone for long periods of time.
- There will be more ways to obtain “Scenery” items in the future.
Alchemy Stone System Update
- The current Alchemy Stone System is too complex, has an unfriendly UI, and is difficult to progress through.
- Previously, there were 8 levels, and each level had 4 possible color grades for the alchemy stone. Now there will be 6 levels, and alchemy stones will be yellow grade only. Adventurers with other grades will be compensated with silver.
- The UI will also be revamped so that there is no need to go between tabs anymore, and everything can be accessed in one window.
- Growth difficulty will be changed, and success rates will be shown in the UI. You can now use Cron Stones to stop the alchemy stone from being destroyed, and Ancient Anvil will be added, so you are guaranteed an upgrade when reaching a certain number of fails.
- Due to its difficulty, Shining will still require a lot of fails through the Ancient Anvil, and it will remain at the same success chance as before.
Sovereign Offhand and Existing Sovereign Changes
- The Sovereign Sub-weapon will be released with Edania on 6th August.
- The offhand will combine the kutum and nouver and cannot be registered on the central market.
- It will have the same enhancement rates and difficulty as other Sovereign Weapons and can be enhanced up to DEC (X).
- There are 3 ways to craft the Sovereign Sub-weapon:
- x2 PEN Blackstar + x1 Gem of Twilight
- x1 PEN Blackstar + x1 PEN Kutum (C20) + x1 PEN Nouver (C20)
- x1 PEN Blackstar + x1 Gem of Twilight + x1 Gem of Primordial
- Gem of Primorial is a new item that can be obtained from defeating monsters in the new Edania region.
- In addition to the new Sovereign Weapon, changes to existing Sovereign Weapons will be made.
- The Sovereign Mainhand and Awakening weapons will gain additional AP when you reach PEN, HEX, and SEP. You will gain +1 AP for each of these enhancement levels (+3 AP total)
- Reforming your Sovereign Mainhand weapon using a Garmoth’s Heart will also give you +3 AP and +50 Accuracy.
- A Garmoth’s Heart will be given to all players for free with this update.
Mythical Horses Combined
- The 3 mythical horses will be combined so that they automatically swap depending on what you are currently doing.
- If you are on water or in the desert, the horse will turn into a Dine.
- If you are on land, the horse will turn into Doom
- If you are flying, the horse will turn into Arduanatt
- All players who have the Krogdalo’s Sanctuary item will obtain the new horse. It is a separate horse so that you can still use your Sanctuary on an alt character.
- The horse will start at level 1 but will already have all skills at 100% (excluding 2-seater). The base stats of the horse are also set to max with the best stats possible from each horse. Eg. Turn stat will be Dooms highest possible stat, Speed stat will be taken from Arduanatt’s highest possible stat.
- The horse is called “Dine-Arduannat-Doom” for now and still needs a name, so Pearl Abyss is open to suggestions.
Class Synergy and PVP Resistance
- There was a need to change a core system that has been part of BDO since the start. It took great consideration, but it was needed as there are multiple issues and regrets (such as issues with class summons). These changes are in hopes of rectifying this.
- The current damage calculation formula will be improved. As combat has become more complex over time, it has now been streamlined.
- Confusing terminology will be clarified and simplified. Currently, there is the Accuracy Rate and Evasion Rate. All Accuracy Rate will be removed and changed to Accuracy with a rate of 1% Accuracy Rate to +4 Accuracy.
- For example: Hashashin has the skill Inquisition, which has an Accuracy Rate of +19% and an Accuracy Rate buff of +6%. This will be converted to Accuracy on the skill instead.
- +18 Accuracy will be added to the Infinite Mastery Passive Skills.
- The Damage Reduction Rate of Super Armor has also been changed to an additive calculation (Product (x) Operation > Sum (+) Operation). Damage reduction rates of the skill will be changed as well. The idea is that after these changes, it won’t feel any different from before.
- Species damage will also be changed so it is clearer. Extra damage to Humans will no longer work in PVP. Instead, an “Extra Damage to Characters” effect will be added to clearly distinguish between PVE and PVP. Items that have human damage will gain the Extra Damage to Characters stat.
- Species damage will also no longer exceed the AP cap limits on monster zones.
- Character summons will also benefit from character damage effects or increasing damage effects. Stats will be applied to summons, and summons will no longer become stronger at night. The summon damage calculation formula will be changed to be the same as the character
- Resistances will no longer apply in PVP. As Grapple is not used in PVE, items with Ignore Grapple Resistance and Grapple Resistance will be removed, and silver will be given as compensation for players who have these items. To balance grabs in PVP, wind-up animations will be added so that grabs are more distinguishable.
- Classes will be grouped for class damage modifiers, and there will be 3 groups. The group you are in depends on the playstyle of your class spec. Eg. a Succession Ranger may be in one group, while an Awakening Ranger is in another group since they have different playstyles.
New Class Groups | ||
---|---|---|
Guardian | Rush | Fierce Attack |

Succession Sorceress Succession Ranger Succession Tamer Succession Musa Awakening Maehwa Succession Witch Succession Wizard Succession Ninja Succession Kunoichi Deadeye Awakening Dark Knight Succession Lahn Succession Hashashin Archer Awakening Sage Awakening Corsair Awakening Woosa Awakening Maegu Awakening Dosa |
- Mouse movement will be disabled as it is started to affect the balance of the game. Appropriate improvements to skills will be made instead. Pearl Abyss felt it was important to remove mouse movement since it can cause issues such as desync.
- To improve a sense of gear growth and progression, if your AP is above 310, you will now gain +5 monster damage for each AP you gain. These numbers are just examples and may change.
- Monster zones have also been reassigned AP requirements. If you are below the AP requirement, you will struggle at the zone and get less trash loot, and as you gain more AP you will find the spot easier and earn more loot. While AP requirements must be met, DP can be overcome with skill and is not as punishing, so there will not be a minimum DP required for monster zones.
- For some content, such as Atoraxxion, Black Shrine, the minimum requirements will be adjusted as well, and you will not be able to enter without meeting the requirements.
- These updates will be added over time and not all at once. The first update will start next week on Global Lab and will be tested/refined for around a month before coming to live servers. The updates are aimed for end of July for live service.
Tournament – Master Class
- A tournament called “Master Class” is planned for September or October this year. Each region will host a tournament to find the strongest of each class.
- The tournament will be held once the PVP changes are wrapped up and players have had time to adjust to the changes.
- The tournament will be for each class: Eg, Warriors vs other Warriors, in a 1V1 match until the champion is found
- Spitting awakening and succession specs into different categories will not happen because it would mean over 50 classes
- Not everyone can enter; you need to be in the top 5% gearscore to qualify. Specific details will come when sign-ups start (If there are gaps in participation, they will be flexible)
- Although you need to have a high gearscore to qualify, the tournament will use designated equipment so that the conditions of the matches are fair and about class skill.
- The reward for winning the tournament is a griffon mount that can fly and can be used for a year. Other special rewards include a title and an invitation to the next ball event in person.
Summer Event + Costumes
- The Termiann event is back again for summer!
- There will be 2 new summer outfits released. These are limited-time costumes that are only available during the summer.
- You will be able to customize the costumes to create what you want. For example, male characters can choose to go shirtless for a beach vibe
First of all: thank you for this detailed summary of the ball, this is awsome! I noticed that under point 18. Sovereign Offhand and Existing Sovereign Changes it only says, that reforming the Mainhand with a Garmoths Heart gives +3 AP, but during the ball the devs said, that both Sovereign Weapons would get +3 AP from being reformed, maybe you could squeeze that in there somewhere.
