Savage Rift Guide

Introduction

Savage Rift is a PVE horde defense game mode where players must protect a sealed tower from waves of monsters and bosses, uses matchlocks and other seige weapons.

There are a total of 25 waves which take around 30 minutes to defeat. If the tower is destroyed or if all players are killed, the rift will end and rewards will be distributed.

There is no death penalty if you are killed in the rift, and you can be resurrected by your team. Up to 10 players can join the rift, but only a minimum of 8 players is needed before the game mode begin automatically.

How to join

To join you must be level 56 or higher. There is no AP/DP requirement to join and your AP doesn’t matter because you won’t be using your class weapon to kill the monsters. DP however will help you to survive the waves and I also recommend using food buffs such as the Valencia Special.  If you meet the level requirement, you can join at any time by pressing ESC then clicking the Savage Rift Button.

Here you can see all the channels you can join, how many players are currently participating, and their wave progress. Savage Rift is available on channels 2, 4, 5 and 6 of all channels except Olvia channels (eg. Balenos 2, Calpheon 2, Mediah 5, Valencia 6, etc.) You must be on the channel to join the Rift and the window does not refresh automatically.

You can join a Rift that has already begun if they have a slot open and have not yet started Wave 4. You can also join as a party but your party leader must be the one to enter you in the rift.

It’s important to note that you cannot enter Savage Rift if you have any of the shop items in your inventory or still equipped. You must delete these first to enter.

Points and Shop

Once you’ve joined you will see the tower at the back and the Savage Rift UI. At the top the current wave number is displayed and the amount of time until the next wave starts. On the left you can see the names of everyone on your team and their current points, there is also a button which will open the shop.

Defeating monsters will earn you points, but you must get the last hit on them. These points are then used to purchase weapons, armor, HP pots and defense structures/weapons. Everyone will start with 30 points.

You can also transfer points to another player (starting at Wave 4) by clicking the button next to their name and entering how many points you would like to transfer to them.

Below is a list and explanation of everything that can be bought from the shop:

Strategy

The stratergy for completing Savage Rift is quite straight forward and once you know what you’re doing it can very easy to complete all 25 waves. It was discovered in Korea and has proved quite effective and popular on EU/NA. It involves all players sending their points to a designated builder at the end of each wave. This person is then in charge of building, replacing and upgrading structures while the rest of the team focuses on killing the monsters that spawn. The strategy is explained in detail below.

<<Example of structure build in Savage Rift>>

Waves 1 – 4

At the beginning of the Rift each member should spend their 30 points on buying a Matchlock and the Matchlock Ammo. Equip the two items and go to the front of the Rift where the purple effects are. This is where the monsters will spawn here on the left side. Crouch down by using the (SPACE) key and hit any monsters that spawn by aiming and pressing LMB.

Remember that you must reload every 3 shots by clicking RMB.

You may also need to turn on “Activate Aiming Assistance” in your game settings if you are having trouble aiming the Matchlock

Choose one player to be a designated builder. This person will focus on building, repairing and upgrading structures while the rest of the team kills the monsters. It’s important to note that you can be crowd controlled whilst repairing structures, but can’t when you are upgrading them. If a barricade is being damaged and you cannot safely repair it, just place one in front while you repair the damaged barricade. After each wave everyone should check how much ammo you have and if you need to buy more, then send the rest of your points to the builder.

The builder will begin by placing a row of baracades in front of the sealed tower as proctection. Build them all the way from the wall on the right to the pond on the left and block it off against the rock so the monsters can’t get through.

Make sure to place the barricades vertically, so that players can walk in between them, but monsters will still attack them.

Wave 5 (BOSS)

Red Nose boss spawns at wave 5. Be ready for him and choose one player to tank the boss. You want to choose a tankier class if possible, such as Valkyrie, Warrior, Striker or Berserker. They may need to buy a few of the potions from the shop and will be using their class weapon instead of the Matchlocks. Everyone else should use Matchlocks including the builder, and make sure you hit the boss at least once or you will not get loot. Make sure that you tank the boss at the front of the Rift and away from the building structures so you don’t damage them.

Waves 6 – 9

Everyone should continue sending points to the builder. Keep around 10-20% of your points so you can start saving up for the Enhanced Matchlock, which costs 250 points.

The builder should build a Flame Tower next to the lake and in front of the row of barricades. Someone should move into the Flame Tower and start firing from there instead. Put The Flame Tower will knock back enemies and also damage them. Once the Flame Tower is placed, begin building two more rows of barricades behind the first row. You will also need to buy oil for the flame tower and make sure it has at least 50 ammo. Place it in the flame tower by pressing (F5) on the tower and putting it in the inventory. Communicate with the builder if you are in the flame tower and you are running out of ammo.

Harpies will spawn at wave 8. These cannot be attacked by flame towers so everyone should get out of the flame towers to shoot them down. If you can’t reach them, press (SPACE) to crouch and increase your range.

Wave 10 (BOSS)

Giath boss spawns at wave 10.

Waves 11 – 14

You should have some points saved up for the Enhanced Matchlock and you want to buy it as soon as possible. Even if you are in a flame tower you will want to get it for the harpies and boss waves. Buy ammo if you need it then send the rest of your points to the builder.

The builder should now focus on placing 3 more Flame Towers.
Place 1 in the middle and one on the right side, before placing another near the middle. Make sure they are all in front of the barricades and that someone is in them on all waves except harpies and boss waves. You will also need to buy oil for the flame towers and make sure each one has at least 50 ammo. Place it in the flame tower by pressing (F5) on the tower and putting it in the inventory. Communicate with the builder if you are in the flame tower and you are running out of ammo.

Harpies will spawn at wave 13.
These cannot be attacked by flame towers so everyone should get out of the flame towers to shoot them down. If you can’t reach them, press (SPACE) to crouch and increase your range.

Wave 15 (BOSS)

Bheg boss spawns at wave 15.

Waves 16 – 19

Remember to send your points to the builder on each wave!

The builder should focus on upgrading barricades and keeping ammo in the Flame Towers.
Upgrade the front row of barricades first. To upgrade a barricade you will need x10 of the Iron Ingots from the shop. You may need to start replacing the Flame Towers that break and if you have any extra points afterwards, use these to place more Flame Towers for the team. You can also place a Hwacha behind the barricades, but Flame Towers are just as if not more effective.

Harpies will spawn at wave 18.
These cannot be attacked by flame towers so everyone should get out of the flame towers to shoot them down. If you can’t reach them, press (SPACE) to crouch and increase your range.

Wave 20 (BOSS)

Titium boss spawns at wave 20.

Waves 21 – 24

Now you are almost at the end. The builder should be focusing on replacing broken structures and also helping to kill the monsters with their Matchlock.

Harpies will spawn at wave 23.
These cannot be attacked by flame towers so everyone should get out of the flame towers to shoot them down. If you can’t reach them, press (SPACE) to crouch and increase your range.

Wave 25 (BOSS)

Orgg boss spawns at wave 25 and is the final boss.

Rewards
